I was doing some research on how to improve my Ork army a few days ago and I found something very interesting, Ork Weirdboys and Old Zogwort. When I found out how good they are I felt like, really dumb for overlooking their skills. They seem really great. Put em in a squad with 30 boys making him fearless with LD 10 so he can pass his Test easily. Also with the powers they have are great, except getting a 1 although he can just upgrade him to a Warphead for 30 points allowing him to re roll to see what power he uses. The best parts I see in my eyes is the free WAAAGH, Deep Striking, or having a power weapon in CC. With Zogwort in CC you roll on the chart if you get a 1-3 you have a power weapon with D6 plus base attacks plus 1 for charging. So yea they seem like a bargin for how many points they are. I want to know your guys thoughts on this before I buy any models. His the list that I plan on using him with. Thanks guys

Well the part of a weirdboy or better a warphead is that the automatically hit the targets with frazzle and zaaap. Deep striking is cool but can come at a bad time when you just want to get into combat time, but what I would do if near combat is roll the dice and if the result is bad don't risk it and just opt for Zogs Curse. I would like to try him with Grotsnik in a 30 strong mob of 'ard boyz. Having said that... your list needs work... Deffkoptas should be taken in units of 1. Battle wagon with no deffrolla? 12 Lootas is bad take 2 units of 5, nobz are troop as you are taking Ghaz and WTF is with the Mek and Big Shoota? Dakka Gun is way better. Again with the cybork and 'eavy armor on the nobz, IMO a waste of points, are you taking an ammo grot on your painboy? Sorry for sounding like an ass but didn't we just cover this a day or 2 ago here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/366098.page

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Ok ignoring the list, Weirdboyz and Zogwort belong in Green Tide lists, easily. If I ever did one, I'd take Ghazz and Zogwort. Zogwort or a Weirdboy do belong in a big mob of boyz, ideally shootas really for that sneaky 24" jump and shoot

Zogwort himself is probably the most epic character in the book. Wounds 2+ with alot of attack potential. That and who cannot ignore squigging some IC

It has for a long time been my wet dream to have a green tide (apocalypse formtion) with 70 shootas and 10 big shootas, remember you can take one pr. 10 orks. then throw in the boss and a wierdboy. then hope beyond hopes to roll the 'ere we go deepstrike thingy, the look of horror upon everybody's faces when you try to place 100+ boys for a deepstrike. But if it were to be succesful with the deepstrike you absolutely devastate that tac squad you just landed in front of lol.

I have run Dok and Zogwort in 'ard boyz several times. For the most part, it is a very great combination. While Dok's rage is a pain, his FNP really helps keep Zoggy around.

Personally, I think Zogwort is highly underestimated. He catches a lot of people by surprise as they are always concerned about his curse and forget he can be quite nasty in CC. d6 attacks at I4, plus his base attacks (potentially 10 on the charge) and they all wound on a 2+.

Sounds great in theory. However, it has been my experience they do this and then get wiped out when your opponent returns fire with that large blast template your entire unit conveniently fits under. Warpath, Zzap, and Frazzle are my preferred choices. And, if you happen to get 1-3 while in CC, that is how many attacks at 2+ that are now considered power weapons? Oh yeah. Good times.

i would really like to try mad dok grotsnik in a unit of 30 ard boys charging up the feild closely followed by zogwort and 30 boys.
feel no pain on 30 ard boys has gotta be good plus they're giving the unit behind them a 4+ cover save too

I'd probably take snikrot and some kommandos with this to force them away from the table edges and then as many deffkoptas as possible for suicide runs in the first turn

What's the point cost on this? I estimate it around 500 points?

Should be 458, without checking the codex. You could change one PK to a BC on the nobz mob and drop one nob entirely. You won't notice the difference in killing power. Also either 'eavy armor or cybork, not both. Most people, including me, prefer cybork, as 'eavy armor can't stop most instant death wounds.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

I think that has a good chance of mishap-ing!

I use wierdboyz quite regularly in a mob of 20 sluggas (because they represent madboyz better than shootas) and find either:
The wierdboy is super-awesome and very useful
or
The wierboy does nothing useful

Varies from game to game, but when things go well, well things go well.

DEFINATELY take the warphead upgrade, that re-roll makes them so much more effective!
