Hi everyone, can anyone enlighten me on the diferences in properties of the different 'stuffs' i'm only familiar with greenstuff but would like to know if there is a cheaper version and what the other ones are good for? i've heard some harden faster and some are better for filling gaps and so forth, any feedback as usual appreciated greatly!

Greenstuff is the mostly used stuff for conversions. Brownstuff is less flexible but harder, often used for sculpting swords and other delicate sharp edged things. For filling gaps, you can also use less expensive putty (e.g. Plasto by Revell).

Thanks Kroothawk, i'm thinking of which one would best suit repairing space marine armour and re-making the ribbed joints in the arms and legs if i convert them? maybe the brown stuff? by harder do you mean it dries faster and harder? thanks for your help too! :-)

I use grey stuff for all my sculpting work (which is very very minor upto now).
The advantage of that stuff is that you can achieve both the characteristics of green stuff as brown stuff with it, depending on the ratio of the two components.
Also in my experience it is easier to see what your doing with this opposed to green stuff (although that might be very personal)

When green stuff dries it's edges soften, sharp edges and details seem to melt a bit. Brown stuff is better for holding the detail.

Well, brown stuff is usually found in the toilet when your done.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?
