Hi, whilst waiting for my new terminator army to come in I have picked up my Blood Angels Codex and have got back into my Decent of Angel army,

Here's two list I have looked at and played both have one me one game and given me a draw in another, what I would really like to no is what list would give me the best result at a local tournament? (mainly mechdar, nidzilla and grey knight armies)

Libby w/Jump Pack, Blood Lance, Shield of Sanguine, melta-bombs

Honor Guard w/Jump Packs, 4x meltagun, 3x SS

Totals: 2000 points

Elites
Sanguinary Priest: jump pack, power sword (attached to Dante & Sanguinary Guard)
Sanguinary Priest: jump pack, power sword & infernus pistol (attached to assault squad)
Chaplain: jump pack & infernus pistol (attached to assault squad)

Troops
Sanguinary Guard: 2x infernus pistol, power fist & Chapter Banner
10x assault Marine: flamer/meltagun; sergeant: thunderhammer & stormshield

Sorry about the points they are both 2k lists but dont know what would work better more assault marines or sanguinary guard?

Thanks for reading and any comments you put.

guard are very specialist units.

im not sure how experienced you are with angels.

but perhaps try a less elite DoA army to begin with is my suggestion.

plus they are very expensive pointswise.

and cannot assault after a deepstrike, you will find alot of incoming fire coming their way when they land.

it is tempting to take them as troops choices with dante, they are rock solid in combat aswell, its just the points that is their downside.and a mistake can be costly, 200 points plus costly!

i would try assault squads with:

2x meltaguns, sergeant with power fist.

librarian should be attached to one of these, best powers in my opinion are unleash rage, and shield of sanguinius. (unit re-rolls to hit in close combat, and get a cover save of 5+)
along with a priest makes this unit hard hitting and resilient.

maybe take one unit of guard or honour guard with melta weapons with dante attached for popping vehicles (they dont scatter if they deepstrike)

in one of my lists i do this and then my vanguard vets come and slaughter whatever has to bail out with heroic intervention. works well but a bit of a one off trick to do, and doesnt always work as they may be charged from something nasty.

also i would advise on not upgrading your priests too much, as they are characters best used for enhancing the effectiveness of a squad, and not are not really combat monsters. keep them cheap and take as many as possible, (roughly one per unit i would say)

priest with just a jump pack is 75 points.

just my opinion, but i know alot of the stuff i mentioned works, and alot of seasoned blood angels players use the same set ups.

Nottingham (yay!)

Ditto on down-grading the Priests, you don't want the temptation to put them at the front in CC where they can be easily sniped. They should sit in the middle of a squad and hope for no Vindicares.

Good luck getting through Warp Quake. Can your Libby counter non-damaging AOE powers?
