There was a ranking one in the Eisenhorn triology I believe.

Some still exist, they're just the senior officer in charge of a crusade or similar scale deploment, yet some choose not to take the title warmaster (Lord Solar Macharius) as it is a bit of a jinx

Indeed. The commander of the Sabbat Worlds crusade, for instance, bears the title of warmaster. But because of the treachery of warmaster Horus, this title has a bad reputation, and is sometimes replaced by the title "Lord Solar".

I don't think creed is a warmaster actually.

I thought he only bore the title lord castellan (commander of cadian forces).

From Lexicanum: 'Warmasters are created when a Crusade is being planned and resources from multiple sectors are needed. Supreme overall command is necessary as internal strife and corruption might make assembling the material required and co-operating in the field difficult for members of the same rank. The rank is not available unless granted by the High Lords of Terra and such an individual is said to be given the powers by the Emperor himself. There is rarely more than one Warmaster operating within the Imperium at any one time, due to the extreme powers given to them'

So if Macaroth is still alive and active he is most likely the only one in the IoM. All the other listed warmasters are listed as dead in the current date.

Macharoth is still alive actually. And you are probably right when you say that he is the only warmaster at the moment. Of all the major troop deployments by the IoM I have heard of (13th Black Crusade, Damocles Crusade, Vraks retaliation force), the Sabbat Crusade is the only one commanded by a warmaster. All the other commanders have a different title (Lord High Commander, Lord General Militant, or even chapter master).

That's because they're all pretending to be Horus' true inheritor.

Considering the Sabbat Worlds Crusade takes place ~200+ years(755-775 as we know so far) prior to the "current" day 40K, I doubt it.

Yeah juvenat treatments, augmetics and replacement organs and all that. Eisenhorn was 200+ years by the end of the Ravenor trilogy, and nowhere near dying. And probably be older still in the upcoming new series.

As a side note, how long can juvenat treatments extend one's lifespan? I'm guessing there's a ceiling, and its probably written down in the 40k rpg books but I don't have those.

EDIT: better example, Inquisitor Heldane who was around 400 years old when he tangled with the Tanith and died.

The life expectance of high ranking officials far out strips that of normal humans, just look at inquisitors, most have to be well over a hundered to be allowed to train apprentices. If men like Yarrick are really old then someone with the rank of Warmaster will be able to get the treatment to live even longer.

Depends on the quality of the rejuvenat treatments, and how much of the original body is left (that is, not replaced with augmetics) as well as the sort of life one leads (combat injuries tend to diminish the effects of rejuvenat treatment quite considerably).

That said, high-quality (extremely expensive) rejuvenat treatments can keep someone spry and healthy, if not exactly youthful-looking, to 500 years or more. With extensive augmetics, or even total body rebuild, a lifespan of 1000 years or more is not out of the question.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.
