I'm sorry.
I know the Army won't go for this and here's why: They know guys like me are smart enough to figure out how to make easy money. I'd "marry" my buddy in my platoon, we get to live off post, housing allowance and all. Bam, easy money. Gay marriages would sky rocket in the Army.

OK, and? This will last only as long as it takes them to figure out that Partner #2 doesn't have to stay in and after 10 years gets half of Partner 1's retirement. Then you'll see shenanigans like that stop. Also, not as easy money until DOMA is repealed, as you're still stuck filing taxes and other Federal paperwork as Single. If it was such "easy money", you'd see more straight males and females doing it.
