Okay somehow i started thinking of redoing my guard forces, (i dont have much invested in it just a couple of shock troop squads and a lord commi), this is just a thought for know. I was thinking of converting the easterlings and possibly the haradran from the Lotro game into a custom gaurd force, some of it would be easy but im wondering how hard would it be to convert certain guys to be heavy weapons teams, or carry speacial weapons and stuff, some of its fairly easy i think. but well has anyone done this before, what would i need, and yeah......

as far as I know the scale is wrong for 40k, something GW apparently did to stop people from doing what you want to do, the models proportions are more slender and real to life than our normal heroic scale models and look strange next to them, but keeping that in mind, imperial guard is made up from many worlds so they could just be a less bulky people from one planet, as far as anyone else doing it? I haven't come across any sorry dude.

GW dont let you do this. Cant remember the exact reason but they just dont

Space Wolves: 10 Grey Hunters, 5 Terminators, 1 Wolf Priest
Dark Eldar: 10 Wyches, 1 Succubus
Skaven: IoB, 3 Extra Rat Ogres, 1 Grey Seer, 1 Warlord
High Elves: IoB

The license for LOTR I believe. However, there is nothing stopping you from doing it and playing in a non GW store. Hell, some GW stores probably would not mind.

Though as has been said, LOTR models are on a slightly different scale to Warhammer models, so it might look a bit odd. If you want more "fantasy" style IG, look to some of the WHFB range and they might fit in better.

They are a 25mm "true" scale, so too small for 40k (unless you are playing them as children).

Or unless you are playing your marines as true scale to the guard.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

well it really was just a thought, that im probly wont do now, if 2mm is a big difference, though from some of the guard books i read, thier armor scheme woulnt seem that out of place in certian areas 40k universe,
though i came with a crude history for thier world.
basicly the (whatever i decided to call them) they have been cut off from the imperium since the time of the great heresy, thier world locked in constant war in the eastern fringes with the rebels who supported horus, unkown to them that its been 10000 years, until a small imperial fleet is forced make an emergancy exit from the warp rediscovering thier world. i also added a something wierd, when it was first brought int the folds of the Imperium a small contigency of about 1000 loyalist Word Bearers were left their to guard the planet from uprisings, then the heresy started and from there those word bearers stood at the front asgainst the turncoats with thier Loyalists that supported the emperor, until they couldn't. now at the time of the heresy both sides had all the equipment, vehicals, and what everyone else had at that time, though over the millenia some things started to become unuseable, and became less common on the battle feilds, then it reached the point were almost no presence remained of stuff like tanks, lasguns, and other stuff. Along with all that the loyalist word bearers started to lose numbers as well, and when the planet is rediscoved at that time there are only a small group 5 marines left on life support guarding thier geneseed in a underground vault, along with all salvageable power armor and eqipment.

well yeah there are a few holes that need to be worked out, its crude and yeah.......
