Resolute Ultramarine Honor Guard

I was thinking giving the past treads us vs. Guard and SM...
I came to conclusion that we wouldn't attack them, or they us. They would probably land on Earth and talk to our leaders in the UN, asking us to join the great IoM.
What do you thing, would we join the Imperium?
My guess is that we would soon find out about their military capabilities and we would join up eventually. The only real problem with us they would have when it comes to technology ( we don't praise Machine God, we just swap, repair, oil, etc...) and our faith ( Christ, Alah, Buda...). But when it comes to that, we would eventually accept the Imperial Creed, mostly because they would send us a Missionary or a Psyker and show us their powers. I don't know only how would they react for our "unbelieving" in the Machine God, or how we just know to build and repair things without STC...
That's my opinion dough, what about yours?

We can't decide anything of any real importance on a global scale. The imperium would soon invade us and force us under its command. Religions would cease to exist openly or be treated as heresy and eradicated. Local tech and our capability to improve it could be seen either as heretical or as a great boon for the imperium... I'd say probably the former, but the stance on technology is often unclear.

There are many diverse nations on our planet and I can guess that there would be some who would refuse to join the Imperium. I hate to say it but, largely religious nations and those who have served their own agenda for a long time, like North Korea would probably refuse or fight, at least at first. This may mean the whole planet would be purged of any religion causing all-out war. Lets just say that our planet would be very different.

We'd never have been given the choice.
With our dozens of theocratic, intolerant, and militaristic societies, they'd have never made contact before orbital bombardment began.
We are too deviant from the IoM philosophies. And if there are any deviations, the whole planet suffers. They didn't wait for subtleties.

Then by that logic the Great Crusade would have wiped out humanity and their would be no Imperium.

There was a story of dark angels landing on a planet like ours. They had a meeting with the UN, some nations became aggressive, so the dark angels retaliated by conquering every nation, including the peaceful ones. Someone will be over patriotic and have to start a fight, rather than join peacefully.

the Imperial Creed is quite compatable with Christianity, Islam, and Judiasim.
the Ecclesiarchy would simply say the Emperor is Jesus/Allah/the Messiah
Muslims probably wouldn't buy the propaganda and would revolt under the influence of hothead religious leaders, getting exterminated in the process.
Hindus would be accepting of the creed as their religion claims all religions are one, but the Imperium might not look upon the practices favorably(namely the reincarnation and occult symbols) and might conduct a heavy suppression.
Atheists would be exterminated( there is only the Emperor )
Cults and various Tribal belife systems would be eradicated. except perhaps in the more remote areas which might end up as Marine recruitment grounds and as such need to be kept harsh.

I like to think the Earth would descend into civil war, some welcoming our new overlords and others shouting LIBERTY OR DEATH. I like to think the Chinese would try to pull a fast one and promise the fealty of the most populous nation on earth in exchange for the planetary governorship. (before anyone gets mad China is an integral part of my culture, so I am w/in my rights to poke fun at myself haha).
The IoM stands by while we fight, reasoning this way indoctrination will be easier and only the strongest will remain for IG recruitment

No, they wouldn't attack us. Once they see how advance we are they would gladly add that knowledge to their Imperium...
And like I said, they wouldn't attack us at all. They first make contact, then if we resist - attack us.
But we would join the Imperium, everyone would realize that we are facing an Galactic Empire ( forget Stargate - this is reality ). I only don't know how would we pay tithe, probably forming our own IG and send it to the battlefields...

We'd have two. That always standard IG regiments. And the second would be the fact that we can actually work with technology and anyone with an engineering mind would become techpriests. Realistically, the IoM conquering modern Earth would be their savior as it would allow their tech to increase exponentially... assuming we don't get purged for heresy.

We wouldn't. The AD may vouch a complain - but HL would see as a powerful addition so they would allow us to join AD and spread knowledge instead of purging us.
They would see as as Machine God chosen....I think. Since no Human world have that kind of tech...

Yeah, because we have such advanced technology we would save the Imperium from its innovatory stagnation. What, may I ask would we have to give them? Certainly not weaponry or armour, the two things they are most concerned about.

This. Give us IoM resources and tech and we'd be building titans in 5 years at most. Hell, we already have railgun technology with OUR resources. Give us A.D. 40k materials and every single guardsmen will be running around with RAILRIFLES instead of lasguns.
We could reverse engineer just about anything, at least that is developed by humans. I mean, just using the substitute of black powder the year 40k uses we would probably be able to power up our weapons greatly without even having to change much of our military infrastructure.

I'm not so sure about that. Yes, it's a risk... But many faction in the IoM aren't all that supportive of the omnissiah and that machine cult thing. Imho the inquisition would be very much interested in our fully human, working and maintainable technology that doesn't need any kind of sub culture inside the IoM to work...

And why thinking that? I think we would form our own IG Regiments to send to help...
IG Doctrine: THROW BODIES AT IT!! Either the problem will go away or we'll just go through an entire planet's population. Either way we win!
That depends, I can only recall Chechov doing that. Tanith First and only would have something to say about that, as well as Cadians or Elysians...

That makes you a here-tek.
The only thing you are a candidate for is servitorship.
Again, do not confuse the imperial faith with the machine cult. They are fairly separate things and often clash with each other though not openly. Ecclesiarchy doesn't see in good eye the AM or the machine cult (be it for power hunger or faith). I doubt inquisition would care too much about pleasing the AM if they could get the hands on human made machines with no trace whatsoever of xeno or chaotic corruption.

I think we would Join the Tau. As they would want us to be part of there grand idea of the Greater Good. But if a Empire like the IoM came to our world, We would never go along with there ideas. So they Invade we fight for awhile and lose in the end. And are wiped out. Or at last become more slaves to the empire. OR They come and all the world leaders say...well we can keep it a secret. Just give them what they want...I mean maybe thats why our oil is running out? Maybe thats why gold is 1500 bucks a OZ? And why do so many people go missing around the world? Maybe we are shiping them off to the IoM. Darn Shadow Gov.

Ah...no. Terra is Latin word and it means "Earth". Terra is also internationally adopted word for Earth when referring to space.
The idea is that we think that this is Earth and that we are simply lost Human colony from the DAoT.
An please find me a guy that doesn't know that Terra is Earth...
