Nottingham (yay!)

SH are Cavalry with Random Movement. Marching or Charging someone over or behind an obstacle causes a Dangerous Terrain test on cavalry. How does this work with random movement that doesn't declare charges or marches? If random movement takes one into combat, does it make the movement 'count as' a charge for this purpose?

By RaW, I'd assume that, because they are incapable of marching, they're fine there. But as random movement that takes them into combat "counts as a charge", I'd say that, yeah, they need to make those tests. Since they're counted as charging.

I'd say they don't as it's not declared as a charge and that they can't march either. Wrong sub-phase.

I liken it to the unit being charged not getting a reaction (other than hold).

Not like I use hoppers anymore, of course.

Well, if it "counts as a charge", it triggers all effects involved in charging, until GW clarifies otherwise.

The idea behind being denied a charge reaction is that the movement is too unexpected; they're still bookin' it through the woods, and the gobbos can still get knocked off due to low branches.

But squig hoppers also ignore obstacles on their movement.

This deserves some FAQing

Wait, wait, wait. Can we get a quote on that from the book?

SH have no special rule in their entry, specific to them, that states this. And as far as I know the Random Movement rule nor the Skirmisher rule have the effect you are stating.

If you can quote the rule you are descirbing above, that would be great!
