Nice report.

GK seem like a real tough match up for orks.

My vote goes to a Wagon Rush list.

When that game started, and Bad Sheep got 1st turn, and started in as far as he did...my first thought was SCOUT MOVE.. i calmed down and thought wait..just castle so..i did lol. the first bit of my armor took the blunt of the bikers charge, giving me the ability to charge back on my turn with everything. Playing against Bad Sheep is tough, he is damn good and i am always worried i over think my strategy, this time stayed calm and cool payed off.

Watching the video.. i sounded cocky i think in the tactics section..not how i wanted to sound at all lol. Just pumped i have never had a "new" army i started to collect play so well, but as many will probably say "hey they are grey knights..how can you loose lol". Glad everyone enjoys the reports, he does a damn good job with them.

Also as a shout out.. Anyone in the Indiana,PA Area..feel free to come in, stop by and throw some dice around. great group of guys that play at the shop and such a fun environment to just relax, sit back and have fun.

Great batrep, sad to see the boyz get torn up like that though. Where are the list we could pick from?

I haven't had much exposure to GK, but one thing I do know - don't assault anything with cleansing flame. With those bikes you could have done some excellent shooting on them. Once you knock down everything with cleansing flame (and I'm not actually sure what units he had), then it's safe to assault. Even those little pistols on the boyz can be better than assaulting when you know you are going to lose half your squad.

I've been finding it more and more necessary to make half of my foot mobs shoota boyz to deal with all the nasty things some of these SM codices have, and they have yet to disappoint.

Your main mistake was that your forces were divided. Grey Knights basically refused flanked you and you are not going to beat them by feeding them 1 unit at a time.

What you should've done was to have both your nob biker units come in together in the middle of the board and use teamwork to take him on. That's what he did to take out your orks. Notice that it was usually one ork unit against 2 or 3 grey knight units? If you had 3 on 3 (2 nob bikers + 1 ork-mob for support), he would've had a much, much tougher time against your orks.

Oh, and next time, bring shoota boys. Much more effective against the knights.

I'm thinking a wagon rush will be your best bet. Great battle report my friend. Always enjoyable.

I don't think a wagon rush would be your best bet, honestly. Up close, they wouldn't have much trouble cracking those wagons open, and if you keep them pulled back you are still in a position where you are trying to outshoot them, but now you have less shooty because of the points invested in the wagons. While outshooting them, at least to a degree, is what you have to do, I don't think the wagons will help much. Either you are still rushing to melee where Cleansing Flame will nom your troops, or you are holding off hoping their skimmer doesn't just come up, blow up your wagons, and still devastate your forces. I think a good list would be a dread bash list. Sure, you are likely to lose some kans and dreads on the way, even if you take a KFF, but they can at the very least tie up the Cleansing Flame troops if not outright decimate them. With a backing of shoota boys to weaken their targets and bikes, nobs or slugga boys to engage the non-cleansing flame troops, you should have a solid base for taking them down. They won't be able to just drive through your walls of kans and dreads, and hopefully they'll provide enough firepower to bring down that skimmer (or some lootas hanging out in the back can help). This also allows you to keep your troops together with less risk of your boys getting counter assaulted.

That is a very good idea, but... i have alot of psycannons on the table in this list, the range may only be 24 but..thats alot of str 7 ap4 rending shots thrown at them cans. I would focus fire on one squad at a time, So 10 psycannons+2 TL autocannon dreads i feel "could" chew through them in a turn or so..maybe..if the dice are with me.

Time for some reflection. After watching the report again, I noticed a few things I did wrong.

First off, as a poster has already stated, it was really stupid to flank either side with my Nobz. Their fast enough that bringing them in the middle is by far the most versatile option for any game.

Aside from that, I wanted to try and hit him with multiple units, but how he castled, he made it really difficult to get things there at the same time. My Boyz were way to slow and spread out so I only had 2 options. Slow the advance and get shot up, or get chunked out piece by piece in close combat. I obviously chose the latter because I was hoping I could do enough dmg to a squad that they would be shot down and or krumped off the board by my bikes.

It was also extremely tough because the purifiers had the mobility and I couldn't take that out early. Sure I could have blown up the Raven, but he would have had the jump on me in the assault phase. Being a much higher init and all power weapons, it would have been the worst idea...ever.

With that being said, I feel that replacing the Boyz with 42 Lootas backing the Nobz would REALLY hurt grey knights. Popping their transports and leaving the infantry exposed to the STR 7 shots backed with the STR 5 shots from the bikes would be a tough thing to take out.

Wagon rush would be fun, but its to slow for me anymore. I will prob give it a go if dakka votes and wants it, but if not Ill leave it for another day. Kan wall may be effective but once again I think its going to be the loota support in the Kan Wall that really makes the difference.

Thanks for watching the report guys, I'm happy to see everyones enjoying them. Shawns a great player and a great guy and I cant wait to battle with him again.

Maybe a trukk rush with two KFF big meks to make sure you have coverage for all of them. With the standby red paint job you would get 19" closer every turn and he would have too many targets to spread his fire out amongst. Also, it has been my experience that biker nobs are a monumental waste of points.

You could try to out-dakka him, not through sheer numbers, shootas or Lootas, but with Krumpin' Kabooms! 3 Boomwagons, a couple Nob or Meganob Squads with Kilkannon Battlewagons, some KMB on Dredds or Koptas or Meks in Burna squads (woo! Power Weapons!). Just ignore all those cover and armour saves.

GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

If yer an Ork, why dont ya WAAAGH!!

Gyer Knights are the army that orks must out-shoot. The DE have some equality with inititive and the Nods have a few winners, but horde orcs simply can't compete. Even the standby of Trukk Rushing is just going to feed those purifiers small units to eat. Loota's will hurt him. Burnas may be able to do a suicide BBQ.

The root evil of purifiers is that you can't break them down into manageable numbers. One purifier against thirty boys still equals around 12 dead boys.

And this I saw work fairly well today, storm ravens do not like it when a pair of deffcoptas simply lurks around.
