I was curious what peopl thought of the new codex in terms of game balance compared with other codexes? Personally I think it's overpowered to the point that it makes all other marines obsolete but that's just me.

In all the battle reports I've seen, GKs have been at most able to get a draw, with very few exceptions. And that's, mostly, against armies they were supposed to slaughter, like daemons and hordes.

My wolfwing an elite force that was supposed to get crushed by it beat it the last three times I matched up against it. The only thing that really caused me issues was interceptors because I am a DP army.

Perfectly balanced, neither OP or UP. All the "OMGmarineswithforceweaponsandstormboltersfor20points"!!! hype is just BS IMHO.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

It's internally very balanced, and it works well against all enemies. The high power of individual troops and heroes is balanced by very high points cost.

It's a fine book that just needs an FAQ to be great.

GKs are considered fairly balanced with the exception of the Purifying Flame psychic power, and perhaps the Fortitude psychic power.

Because of this, armies that have no psychic defense have a really rough time.

Its a bit of a joke in my opinion in terms of fluff and rules, and I try my best to avoid those few players that do play them-the ones that tend to smell a little...-, but in the end they suck on the table and just end up coming across as some GW fanboys trying to make us wolf down the ridiculous fluff and rules that they've managed to come up with for their all new uber army. They're in bad taste and I avoid them as much as I can. =/

Brilliant book.

I still think the original Space Marine is the gold standard so far, but I'd easily put Grey Knights as the second-best 5th Edition Codex so far.
