"For every five models in the squad, two Scourges may..." - Codex E, p.90
I guess my question is if the special weapon upgrade rule can be fractionalized. In other words, is this rule equivalent to saying "For every 2.5 models in the squad, one Scourge may..."?
As Scourges are 3-10 in size, this would seem to give more flexibility in how many to take without feeling like I'm being point inefficient.
Interpretation A: (more restrictive)
3-4 Scourges = no weapon upgrades
5-9 Scourges = up to 2 weapon upgrades
10 Scourges = up to 4 weapon upgrades
Interpretation B: (looser)
3-4 Scourges = up to 1 weapon upgrade
5-7 Scourges = up to 2 weapon upgrades
8-9 Scourges = up to 3 weapon upgrades
10 Scourges = up to 4 weapon upgrades
How do you read/play it?

I'd go with what was said, for every 5 you get the upgrades. Not a divisible thing

They wrote it as per 5 models, not per 2 or per 3. They've done 1/3 in other books.

2 in 5 is... 2 in 5. How anyone can interpret this any other way baffles me. The correct answer is "A."

2 in 5. If you have 4 models, do you have 5? No? Then no upgrades.

If it says 2 for every 5, its every 5. If they wanted it to work the way your interpreting it they would have written it to say it works that way

You must have the full amount of models per upgrade in order to upgrade any of them(if 2 upgrades per 5 models you must have multiples of 5 in order to take multiples of 2: up to 2 for 5, up to four for 10, etc).

I would allow Interpretation B in friendly games. Seems like a good optional rule to me.
