I have recently just started a HE army and I am having alot fo trouble working out a quick and easy way to paint white cloth etc.

So what I am looking for is a simple (no more then 3 steps) way of painting white en masse.

Damn I cant wait to the GW legal team codex comes out now there is a dex that will conquer all.

Somewhere in south-central England.

The obvious point is that you want to do shading to pick out the detail of the folds and so on, and you can’t shade pure white. You need to paint the figures a pale something else, then shade it to pure white. Good choices would be grey, blue, yellow and green.

What I would do is prime the models white, spray them a pale colour, wash them a slightly darker hue, then dry-brush with white. I would do a trial model first, to get the techniques.

I might use different colours for different regiments, or mix them up a bit throughout the force.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Well the method i use takes more than three steps but i've shortened it and, heres what you can do:
1. Paint white areas with Astronimican Grey
2. Mix 50/50 astronomican grey and skull white and paint
3. Mix 30/70 astronomican grey and skull white and paint
4. Highlight with skull white

Yeh it's one step more, but it's quite quick and works well when you're batch painting.

Thanks for the input guys I usually paint over a black primer so farseers method might be worth a try.

Next question is the shields I want the whole mass of gleaming white shields thing but except for extreme highlights Ive read that using a pure white is a no no. So what do I do go for a slighty off white?

Well, here an example of my white

Pretty basic: Dheneb Stone basecoat, Devlan Mud wash, pure Dheneb Stone, 1:1 Dheneb Stone:Skull White, pure Skull White

I guess that works for the slightly off-white.
