Hey guys, here is my current 2k rendition, playing around a sorc lord w/heavens... Anyone had luck with this? It seems to have a lot of spells that compliment the WoC...
L: Sorcerer Lord: Level 4, Spell Familiar, Ironcurse Icon, Charmed Shield
H: Exaulted Champion: BSB, Enchanted Shield, Dawnstone, Potion of Strength
C: 18 Warriors: Shields, Full Command, Banner of Rage
C: 18 Warriors: Shields, Full Command, Raptuous Standard, MoT C: 5 Warhounds
C: 5 Warhounds
S: 5 Knights: MoT S: 5 Knights: MoK S: 5 Forsaken
S: 5 Forsaken
S: 3 Ogres: Great Weapons
Don't have the book handy, but I that should e a shade under 2k... Thoughts?
Fantasy: 4000 - WoC, 1500 - VC, 1500 - Beastmen
40k: 2000 - White Scars
Hordes: 5/100 - Circle of Orboros
So you don't need to watch that, but definite slow clap for taking forsaken. I've tried and tried but can find no use for them under 8th, even less than in 7th. I guess the most you can say is that 5 of them is 'pretty cheap' but can still 'hit kinda hard' when counter-charging
Heaven seems quite functional to me, who doesn't like rerolls when your armor save is gigantic? Give it a go, I know other WoC players speak highly of it. One thing on the list, your BSB is over points, as you need to use the 15 point WoC e.shield

Heh, thanks for the response... Have played a couple of games with the list againts dwarves and the forsaken are definatly the weak link... I will soon be able to bring another 3 chaos ogres and will probably start marking them.
Any suggestions for the remaining points?

Threadcomancy, or the sound of inevitability... Got a little work done on the WoC over the laborday break, but first the current list:
L: Sorcerer Lord: Level 4, Spell Familiar, Ironcurse Icon, Enchanted Shield
H: Exaulted Champion: BSB, Charmed Shield, Dawnstone, Potion of Strength
C: 18 Warriors: Shields, Full Command, Banner of Rage, MoT C: 18 Warriors: Shields, Full Command, Raptuous Standard, MoT C: 5 Warhounds
C: 5 Warhounds
S: 5 Knights: MoT S: 5 Knights: MoK S: 6 ChOgres: Great Weapons, MoT
I've had some success with this, and have just completed the modeling on my ChOgres, so the forsaken are benched for the time being. I think my next 500 will be a block of 18 halberd guys, and a shadow sorc with dispel scroll... And I am becoming uncontrollable pulled into a Faustian bargain to bring back my beloved MoN... Facts: with an average roll on the shadow debuff and the effect of MoN you can easily get a unit to -3 WS when attacking... This will force anything less than WS6 to hit your warriors on 5+. But wait, there's more! Now we cast the base Heavens Debuff and the unit gets -1 to hit, causing them to only hit on 6s. This seems awesome, and can always be attempted as both those spells can be swapped for and are super cheap to cast, but if you wanted to add on the reroll 6s debuff it wouldn't hurt.
Is it all madness? I just don't know...

I know, right? I didn't realize that for the longest time, either...
I like the list, and despite the well-deserved slow clap (and I was going to comment similarly until I read further and saw the date of your first list!) it's a lot better with the 3 extra ogres!
Why MoT on the Ogres? I have tried MoK (makes them scary but can be easily led off due to being frenzied and not being able to keep from overrunning after killing a throwaway unit), MoN (-1 WS is certainly nice against WS4 opponents), and MoS (my newest fave, since I always panic off the board with them) but never MoT. Is it worth a 6+ ward with all the other options available?

Lore of heavens first thought was uh oh illegal build since a friend was talking to me earlier today about lore of life on his sorcerer lord.
I don think mot is worth it on the ogres unless you could give them a magic banner shall we say the blasted standard. That would be nice ogres with a 4+ ward against anything done in the shooting phase that would make some empire and dwarf players happy... not.
Have you considered dragon ogres? with AHW...? they are good times and sort of wreck face.
Why not give the bsb say a dragon helm a ward save and a halberd? that way he still has a 3+ armor and a what ever ward save and a 2+ ward against flaming attacks and hes str 6 just to add to that.
Also with the rage banner you cant parry because you are frenzied why not halberds? little more force behind all those hits?
Very interesting list tho do post a battle report (even if its a short one) if you use this list just a quick little how the units did is always nice to see and if they did what you expected

Thanks for the responses! Yes heavens works very well with this list, and with chaos in general I find.
@RiTides: I like MoT on Ogres because
1. It's cheaper and more effective than MoN.
2. It's cheaper than MoK, and benifits all models equally (only the front 3 benifit from frenzy due to the MI supporting attacks restriction). Also, They have such low leadership, and since I have two other frenzied units, ogres are rarely in BSB reroll range... The immune to psych is nice but offset by pesky charge manipulators.
3. MoS is nice, but will of chaos and the fact that they cause fear means you are really just downgrading fear from terror to nothing... Which isn't worth giving up a ward save.
4. MoT helps vs warmachines, which tend to target my multiwound creatures, and in combat since they are MI the saves equalize a bit more... A single saved ogre means as many bonus attacks as MoK... And realistically that happens half the time 1/6(3)=1/2... this unit is my third string behind the two warrior blocks and usually just steamrolls flankers then gets into the backfield while the knights and warriors occupy the center.
@Cowpow:
yeah, a unit of halberd is on the horizon, but I work with what I've got currently.
Also I like ogres because for around the price of 4 DrOgres I can have 6ChOgres that hit harderand have a wardsave, the warriors churn str4, the knights are str5 kamakasis and the ogres round it out with str 6.
I like my bsb build because
1. People don't accept challenges often due to Eye of the Gods fears, especially if I've popped the potion and charged in, so the 3+ reroll with ignoring the first hit allows him to easily churn RnF for a few turns, which is more than most can handle.
2. if they accept I can crush them with 5 Ws 7 Str 8 Init 7 attacks (from banner of rage), throw in the reroll 1s buff and few lords/no heros can reliably weather that long enough to bother me defensivly. Although if you can use a magic shield for armor and a halberd in cc i would do that, but I dont think you can...
Thanks for the dialogue will post the ChOgres when they are painted... I'm quite pleased with the Kitbash.

I'm a fan of Ogres over Drogres... the Drogres you really, Really have to commit a lot of points to. I think both are better with GWs, as you have them.
As to this:
3. MoS is nice, but will of chaos and the fact that they cause fear means you are really just downgrading fear from terror to nothing... Which isn't worth giving up a ward save.
Unless you're me, in which case MoS preserves a ~300 point unit from running off the board due to a failed re-rollable Ld 7 panic check (which is very possible to do... at least for me )
Disregard my comment about the bsb I miss read it I read it as hes on a disc thats why I asked.
The thing is tho I think I may just be me but my bsb always ends up in a challenge with the biggest nastiest thing the enemy has be it grimgor or some tooled out HE fighter guy or some hey look at me in challenges you hit me on 6s characters. That usually beat me after the second round since they manage to go first and such.
But maybe a halberd is something to consider since he wont be parrying anyways just in case you want to punch a high armor or hydra in the face and tell it no means no.
Best of luck
Automatically Appended Next Post: Personally I like drogres with ahw jsut so many attacks people dont see it coming all you hear is what they get how many attacks at str what? and then they mash a unit into paste mmmm state troop paste yum now also in in orc flavor

@RiTides yeah I have been lucky in the handfull of games thus far, the ward plus the fact that they must kill 2 Ogres to panic (roughly 8 wounds from small arms due to armor+ward) has kept me clear. "And I just can't bring myself to spend points on a mark that eliminates our racial ability," he said prior to the first major mishap.
@Cowpow as soon as I get these guys painted I'm gonna hit the flgs and expand my opponents, so that will help guide the evolution as well... Will let you know how the ChOgres work out, and I have been mulling over a DrOgre conversion... Two words: Quadraped. Ogres.
