Greetings all,
I am seeking ideas for themed terrain to go with armies as I finish them off. For those of you who look at my profile I describe the task of painting 2,000 point armies and then making a custom packing case to transport the army, codex/army book, bit of fluff fiction written about the army and some choice themed terrain.
So if anyone has some suitable ideas I am all ears. I know the usual sort of thing like ruined webway gate for Eldar, standing stone for High Elves, a Herdstone is a must for Beastmen. But I am seeking some really unique ideas that will help add to the army. For example, the Iron Hands I am currently working on, which the army list can be seen in the proper forum (hope to have some photos up soonish) will be responding to an Adeptus Mechanicus request for aid in the Skythal sector. This will tie into the Necron Army I plan to do that will, fluff wise, actually be the cause of the mechanicus problem.
So there I think some interesting terrain ideas arise, but how to make them Iron Hands and not too Necron? Especially since I will need some terrain ideas for the Necrons without just having mechanicus and Iron Hands corpses everywhere.
I plan on an Empire Knightly Order to follow the Iron Hands, so that will be my next port of call, What would a knightly order that is always on the move have as terrain? Don't envisage them being really devout, I was thinking a baggage train that not only could be cool terrain but double as a scenario objective if players wanted it to.
Appreciate you taking time to read the ravings of someone with wild dreams but no time on there hands.

Sweet Jesus, Nurgle and Slaanesh in the same box!?
No, just Nurgle and Slaanesh, Jesus will be sold seperately in a blister.

Yeah that is cool. But how do I make it feel like Iron Hands are fighting on that landscape? Or maybe a piece that may be found on their homeworld of Medusa? They had a big tank battle during the 13th Black Crusade on the plains of Medusa, maybe a chaos aligned tank blown out and covered in graffiti proclaiming Medusa and Ferrus rule? Not really Iron Hands style I don't think, but it is a start.
Thanks for the feedback.

You could make a Massive tank immobilized and abandoned on a field...

I am looking at a Bretonnian peasantry army. The idea behind the army is a peasant somehow manages to become a knight and the army represents the defenders he is able to muster to his growing hamlets defence.
Therefore I think it would be great to have a peasants village made up of hovels as I don't envisage it is an army that would really fight anywhere except their home turf. Also the fortified tower that has become the peasant knights new home.
The army includes a Grail Knight Lord that happens to be a local resident as well so a Grail Chapel would be a nice idea.
So there is the idea for the themed terrain for the Bretonnian Army I am planning.
What does the wider community think of these for an idea of themed terrain to travel with the army?
Thanks for your time.

I like the idea a lot, I would go withit, maybe even have pieces of weapons, shields, etc. around the homes which would show that they are the homes of your men. I think it coudl be very cool. Maybe the wives and children waving their men off, or hiding as the battle draws too close to hoome.
