Hello everyone! I am working on a grey Knight army. The colors are browns and whites for armor and dark reds to orangs for shoulders. The script golden. I am looking for a theme for the army. I was thinking a krypton based army that uses the kryptonian language and symbols...but after I saw the army theme renisaunce I know I can do better then krypton. I have 2 rhinos a land raider and a stormraven ripe for murals. Please toss some ideas out! I also considered doing the army in crome also. Help! Thank You in advance also.

Greek gods? Zeus for stormraven. Hermes for the rhinos and hephaetus for the land raider redeemer?

So when you say Grey Knights, you actually mean Brown Space Marines who for some random reason count as Grey Knights?

There's nothing to say he can't paint them a different colour and use it as the distinct scheme for a brotherhood. Their original scheme is great, but grey is quite boring across an entire army.

Except for the Grey Knights codex, and all other fluff material, yeah you are right.

Just like there's nothing saying your Ultramarines can't be yellow and orange.

Well the new fluff is crap anyways, so who cares if he want to paint them something other then grey. More power to them, its not like Grey Knights are Grey Knigths any more.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

Technically Grey Knights are still Grey Knights, they just suck compared to the old school GK.

If you actually read the fluff instead of just basing your rage off of image boards and forums, you would realize that while 5% of the fluff is a bit silly, much of it is in line with old fluff and the remainder is fairly reasonable new fluff.

Correct, it really is amazing how many people are drawn towards the amusing Metaphors critisizing the Grey Knihgts codex rather the reasoned arguments of those who have read, and formed an opinion only afterwards.

My advice would be to keep the majority of the armour grey and only painting certain sections a different colour. For example, my Grey Knight force is all grey except the right arm, which is metallic red. I have a story behind why, so I would make one to give a reason why the Brotherhood has a deviation form the expected norm.

What do you mean they aren't Grey anymore? They're more Grey than ever. They are neutral, doing horrible things for the good of The Imperium and Mankind. Very 40k

Yea they are real GK models...not SM models. I prefer to not make my army like everyone else does. I paint to win competitions, so a regular grey gk army is not in my vocab. I use the GK codex as well. Should I just feature art from actual GK stuff or something else? The colors won't be changing. Graveyard earth-->white with gory red shoulders-->orange with white/yellow trim HLed with gold. Heavy weapons red, reg black. So far they look pretty good color scheme wise; I just need a theme is all.

They water theme im not to keen on, but thank you for the input about it.

So far I am looking at GK art, krypton symbols, and or greek god art. I am still open to suggestions. I will post my Dreadknight when I get it done; It is almost complete.

Looks awesome. Keep up the good work.
Its your army, you obviously are not trying to proxy something else and you can paint it any color you want.

Please continue to share.

Thank you! I am leaning heavly towards the greek gods murals on the vehicles with the krypton lettering. This model displays some of the lettering to give an idea as to what I am talking about.

The greek gods I chose i chose for a reason, and gave them a specific vehicle for a reason.

Zeus - stormraven - god of the skies, thunder, etc.
Hermes - rhinos - god of transportation, messenger, etc
Hephaetus - land raider redeemer - god of fire, forges, etc

these models will be the last in my army painted, so I have time to fully decide on the theme. I am looking for other types of ideas to do with these models. ALL input is welcomed.

Looks amazing!
my only quibble is that the Kryptonian writing looks too much like Eldar writing for me. Other than that, your paint scheme looks ace, as does the job you have done of it.

Ah I have never looked at Eldar script. I need to check that out so I can determine how close it is. You have a linky? Thank you for the heads up. Does anyone else agree?

Apollo and ares both came to mind also, but it would be hard to represent them adaquetly (spelling) on a apoth and dreads/pallies. I am looking for mural stuff for the vehicles.

Thank you guys for the encouragement and kind words.

O yeah forgot to say the body and legs are magnitized so it can still swivel or come apart.

This gives an example: http://www.searchfreefonts.com/free/eldar-runes.htm, and weirdly also lets you write things in Eldar (result! )

Thank you, I just went to the website. I think I am good to go. They could be misconstrued as Eldar symbols, but def. not the same language at all. Thank you for the heads up though, now I know which symbols might be close and which symbols are not close at all...those are the ones I am going to stick to. Thank you very much...dont need eldar stuff on my army LOL

Glad i could help

Ok you may know this but your missing the end of your heavy incinerator. But i love the paint scheme. Seriously i was planning something very similar for mine but decided that id be boring.

Yeah, I purposely made the heavy incinerator that way. It has the psylencer body and the incinerator tip. I rigged the flame things to fit the back of the model. The way the gun looks now it looks like it can shoot either psylencer bolts or change to incinerator by the press of a button. It's an easy work around the WYSIWYG for this model instead of putting magnets on it. That single arm is WYSIWYG for the power fist, the incinerator and the psylencer. The other arm all I have to do is pull the hand out and slap the TH hand in because it just sits in the arm sleeve. The weapon turned out way better then I expected.

Pretty sure people are allowed to paint their plastic men any colour they want. Pretty sure it'll never impact your enjoyment of the game either.

I love fluff and everything, but if we all stuck to fluff then we would lose the creativity of our expressions in art. thats why I am trying to stick to something outside the box besides fluff. Not to many ideas are being tossed around to me atm...just GK fluff and the gods idea and the water theme. I am fine with GK art, as I know it will look great....I know the gods will too if I find the right way to do it.

Thank you! I think I am going to go with GK art. Anyone have some GK art they want me to look at, to see if I think it might be something to include? I would like to see some stuff besides codex art. Thank you!
