Would a Daemon prince actually be useful in a 2.5k WoC army?

Simple question I hope I am new to fantasy and I got a Be'Lakor model because I think he looks quite cool and was wondering if I could use him as a daemon prince and have him be effective not a win at all cost list but still somewhat a list that can do some damage.

I like using a demon prince because there just cool and I made a custom one. The thing is they die to easy you can't hide them in units and there not all that hard kill for there points so 4out of 5 times he will die with out being worth his points

What I call the Salvage pattern (DP, Lv1 caster, MoT, third eye) has been pretty popular and seems to work alright. You steal some spells, fly to flanks and have a 4+ ward, and fun happens. I have seen it in a number of reports, and it seems to be worthwhile in them. I have never tried it though, as the DP just isn't what I think it should be.
