So I was browsing through the Tomb Kings catalog on the GW website for anything that could possibly be converted to something Necron-esque for my Necrons, and I had the idea of putting Destroyer bodies on Tomb King Horsemen (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1210011a). Any ideas on the subject? I could paint the horses to either be a creepy, ghostlike green to make them appear as if they can phase shift through buildings and walls (so the jetbike rules makes sense) or the typical metal look that goes with the rest of my army. But how do you guys think it would look? I kind of think it would probably end up looking pretty stupid but at the same time I want to try it.

If you like the idea, go for it!

Maybe replace the horse head with the destroyer body to create a necron centaur type thing, rather than having your implacable alien monsters riding horses

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Haha yeah that was why I was a little wary about it, I wasn't sure how odd horses would look amongst a Necron army. The other concern I have is that the destroyer body is pretty beefy for the rest of that skinny horse, and I really don't know how I could get around that. I bet it would look a lot better for a destroyer lord rather than regular destroyers, now that I think about it.

I am not versed in Necron fluff but I think that if you painted them metal and washed green they would have no problem fitting in. Might look cool too...

That's what I'm thinking of doing, painting them up like the rest of my Necrons

i like it in principle, but two possible problems:
- the skeleton horse is an ancient sculpt and not very detailed - unless you can add some cron detailing?
- we're expecting a Destroyer recut of the sprues at the very least, with unknown changed/new bits - _if_ that includes changing the torso, you could have some issues with old and new torsoes being incompatible

Well, I already have five destroyers that I can chop up to use for these guys. As of right now though, I think I'm going to test it out on a destroyer lord to see how it works. I think that will work a little bit better anyways, a figure with a close combat weapon and a commanding aura to him will fit the horse body IMHO. I'll put pictures up when I get my hands on some skeleton horses, either from my LFGS' used box or ebay.

Sounds like not a very good fit, to me. I would stick with standard destroyers, honestly. Besides, Necrons are getting new Destroyer models with the new book.

Randomly teleporting around Melbourne.

You could convert those Tomb Kings snake rider dude into some pretty cool wraiths. Also the Cron lord and Tomb Kings Generals are probably pretty compatible.

I wanted to convert a tomb king general, but I didn't think it would make a good fit.

If you want to convert something from TK into Necrons, get the new cobra style Tomb Guard and make them a variation on the Wraith. Necron lord head, wraith arms, Tomb Guard body. Could look nice.

I can see the Centaur idea working better with a warriors body on it although the size the the gauss cannon might be quite large if that is done.

Just my 2 cents

What I think would look wicked is:

Lower body of the tomb king horse. Centaur it up with the upper body of a necron warrior. Make the hands empty, or put some kind of egyptian glaive into it just for looks. Take the destroyer gun and mount it onto the rear of the hose like a tail.
