Hello people
I have a question: how do you get quickshade off plastics? the models melt when i put them in terpintine (i am down to 9 marines now)
long storry short: i bought black reach for my orks. i painted the tac squad in ultramarine colors and sealed them because i liked the models. after buying the 'dex, i wanted to not paint them all ultramarines.

Soak in simple green it will take off almost any paint. You can leave them in as long as you want and the plastic will still be ok.

I prefer Super Clean, which you can also get in the automotive section at Wal-Mart. Look for the purple container.
And wear gloves. It's healthier.

this is a question that has been plaguing me as of late... I bought some simple green to strip some paint, however it came in a concentrated formula. Should I be watering down the concentrate?

Yes for the sake of not making your model a toxic mess water it down more than it recommends that stuff is strong.
Still use it outside and wear a hazmat suite

Every time I see a thread regarding stripping models, I feel compelled to chuck in my two cents.
No matter what you use, the laundry dryer in your home is your very best friend and tool, for several reasons.
1) No matter what stripper you use, be it Simple Green, Super clean, whatever, the active ingredient that is stripping your acrylic paint is a chemical compound known as a ketone. Ketones work as a mild corrosive on the paint, breaking it apart at the molecular level so that it at least weakens its hold on the model if not outright dissolving it. KETONES WORK BEST IF WARM. This is simple physics of dissolving stuff. You can dissolve more sugar into a hot cup of coffee than you can a cold cup of water. Same deal with paint and cleaning solution. Room temp isn't good enough. Too hot will melt your plastic. Happy medium? The toasty warmth that radiates upward from your dryer when you do laundry. Set the bath and models on top, and you're good to go.
2) If the bath sits still, you're going to end up with your stripping solution dissolving the paint, but only a little. This is because the solution becomes saturated with paint, meaning no more can be dissolved into the solution hovering right outside the paint. But the solution floating around in the void between the models is hungry for more. How do you get it there? Gently shaking the solution. Now, you can do this yourself, or you can do some laundry, and the shaking of the dryer will do this for you as it warms the solution.
3) You will get laundry done. This means your clothes will be washed free of your dirty human filth. I don't feel I need to elaborate more.
Actually, this was a bit more than two cents. More like a buck fifty.
Looks like someone has enough change to do laundry!

Sorry, but you're dead wrong. Simple green is non-toxic. Use it full strength. I've stripped a couple hundred models this way, and stronger is better.
Other Chemicals are not as non-toxic as Green, but I still recommend using them full strength.

Agreed. Even if you're dissolving your paint with... I dunno, snake venom milked from deadly asps, use it at full strength.
