Heres the story. I received one of the GW Monster Figure Cases as a surprise gift after I'd mentioned I needed some transport for my army. Which is awesome and all... If it weren't for the pluck foam instead of trays.
So now I'm sitting here, trying to figure out how to use these incredibly deep layers of foam for my various models. Anyone have any advice on how to make this work for average figures? Mainly Dark Eldar, Skaven and Grey Knights!
Any help is much appreciated

As far as i know , the normal gw foam is compatible so if you want use a couple of trays of that and combine it with the pluck foam.

It's two pieces of vehicle foam. You can fit up to six of GW's regular troop trays in there instead if you'd prefer to switch out of course.
EDIT: I'd have recommended one of the big Army Cases instead of the monster case, it can hold upto eight troop trays.

I have neither any standard foam trays, nor was this my particular choice. Like I said, a surprise gift! I would of asked for one of the others given the choice.
So thats why I'm asking if theres anyway to utilize the exsisting foam. Even if it takes some blasted cutting and glueing.

The practical solution would be to buy some troop trays and save the vehicle sized foam for vehicles and monsters. KR Multicase sell foam trays at a reasonable price.
You could cut each piece of vehicle foam into three trays but you would have no layer bases to support the smaller figs unless you fit some coardboard or other suitable material to the bottom of each of your cut trays. But for quality and reliability just buy them new and pre-cut.

I'm trying to do this on the cheap as I'm having money issues right now. So I may just end up having to use the topmost layer of these untill I can pick up some foam for ebay or elsewhere. Any decent retailers that supply GW case trays then?

KR Multicase, they have their own website or you can buy from eBay, they are reasonably priced.
Gifts for Geeks also supply them pretty cheap.

The pluck foam is perfect for vehicles, I've seen someone use it to hold a bunch of Dark Eldar Raiders. I bought one for the sole purpose of holding that Stompa when I buy one!
But in the mean time, what you could do until for you can get infantry trays, use the one side for vehicles, then fill the other side with the foam you pluckec out, and socks etc... to creat a space for infantry models...

I assum that the pluck sections of foam are fully 4 inches deep.
If this is the case, the problem is that it's very hard to cut sideways through a tray. If you can find some way to do this, you can glue craft foam to the bottom of the trays and you will be left with 2 inch high trays which are just fine for storing models standing up.
See my tutorial for use of Craft (aka Funky) foam as a base layer for foam trays.

Note that Contact cement is a better option than the Spray adhesive I mention in the first post.
If you can't make the trays shorter, I'd recommend ebaying the case or trading it here to someone who has what you need.
Best of Luck.
