Right, if tau have cloven hooves, and they dont have souls like cattle (as some people have said), does that mean they'ed be supseptable to foot and mouth? :3 does this mean they'd cull thousands of tau like they did livestock to avoid the infection passing?

That depends on whether or not they come into contact with it. Their advanced medical facilities would probably have no issue coping with the infection and developing vaccines as the patients are kept stable through other technological means such as stasis.

If we assume that Foot and Mouth was unique to Terra, it'd probably have been all but eliminated by now, with anything encountered on other planets given the same treatment. Since the Eastern Fringe seems pretty clear of it, and with most other space being Imperial or once inhabited by Imperials, it wouldn't be a stretch to suggest known illnesses have been wiped out to prepare for colonisation.

That is of course assuming that Tau have the exact same biological make-up as cows and other livestock, along with the same lack of biological defenses against such infections.

The Tau are not as powerful as the IoM.

This assumes that their bodies are biologically similar to our own (assuming they can be affected to start with and their bodies don't have some form of resistance already), and that they are left untreated and without any form of reliable way of fighting the disease for an extended period of time.

Going off Tau's advanced technology, it does not seem unreasonable to suggest that their sceintists could quite easily find a form of cure and vaccine in a short period of time.

Well, nurgle aside, if you're going to adhere to how the real world works, no, Tau would be completely immune to foot and mouth, and all other xeno maladies.

It could probably wipe out a good deal of tau on in an infected area, but who says tau can catch the same stuff that cows on earth can get? Just because tau have cow hoofs doesn't mean their genetics are the exact same.

First we would have to know if the disease itself is compatible with the Tau physiology. Beyond that, there are more effective ways of dealing with the Tau...
