How prevalant are these two rules in the list? I am playing a game against a friend soon and I'm trying to find out so I can Rune accordingly on my Characters. Right now I'm HOPING he won't take Queek, based on our mutual distaste for SCs. Hoping.

6th edition lands on June 23rd!

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

The Gutter Runners can take poison weapons. There is also a spell (bless with filth) that gives a unit poison attacks. I can't really think of anything that has KB.

There's a master moulder weapon that grants killing blow. Poisoned Attacks can be purchased for any character model from the common skaven items.

Poisoned attacks are pretty common; but most of them are strength 3 or strength 4, so just go with the 1+ re-roll armor save.

If you go with an anvil, I'd take Rune of Stone, Rune of Resistance, Rune of Shielding. 2+ re-roll armor and 2+ ward vs shooting will neuter anything but a brass orb.

If you go with the fighting lord, shield bearers, shield, runes of Spite, Resistance, Swiftness, Cleaving, Speed. 1+ re-roll armor, 4+ ward, and 4 S5 attacks, that always strike 1st and re-roll to hit against anything init 5 or less.

Killing Blow will be a non-issue, simply because you can challenge the unit champ that gets the item, and you strike before him (he's unarmored). Poison is a non-issue, you'll be saving on 2+ with a re-roll.

@steamdragon: oops, forgot about the MM. I also forgot to check the scavenge-pile when I answered.

Like Matt said, it's pretty easy to get poison attacks in some builds, but the strength on them is low. Most of the lists I've seen people run don't include the units that can get poison across the board, though. The exception is if they run a Grey Seer that takes Plague spells (bless with filth).

the whole point of poison is to counter your low Str.

Now, KB and Poison don't mix as if you get a poisoned wound you don't get a chance to roll for KB so i wouldn't mx the 2.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Sort of. Don't forget he gets the Verminous Valor rule, so he can just shimmy to the back rank if he knows full well he's going to get splatted.

On a tangentially related thought, I've actually considered taking a MM with the Things-Catcher just for this. People will challenge me thinking to slaughter the MM (who does get light armor! ) but forgetting that a Master Bred Rat Ogre is also considered a unit champ, and could thus accept the challenge.

Granted, your killy dwarf lord will in all likelihood make mince meat of the Master Bred RO, but for less killy characters (read: heroes) the Master Bred RO is hitting with 5 S5 I5 attacks; not too shabby. It also gives me the option of two entirely different champ types to accept a challenge.
