Omg I just stopped playing fallout so I could sleep, and I remembered how much I frigin love it. So I have the collectors edition with the collectors edition guide because I am a huge fan, but I hadn't played it in a while and I had so much fun! Anyone who says it is not good is a lier, and because of that they had better watch out the next time they walk into a church because they might just burst into flames!

I dunno, it felt kind of blahhh to me after Fallout 3...

I'm a bigger fan of Borderlands then I am of New Vegas.

I found Fallout3 to be better than vegas personally. I gobbled up all the DLC for that... haven't actually downloaded any for vegas yet.

Yeah the first two were the best. Fallout 3 was way better than New Vegas. Of course I am like that with any game that rehashes everything made for another game. Don't get me wrong, I liked Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, but it could have been better if it was a true sequel.

Of course, I still plan on finishing New Vegas eventually. I just got a little bored with it because I went back and replayed Fallout 3 for the two months leading up to New Vegas' release.

New Vegas is fun, but Fallout 3 is much better.

I thought new vegas was considerably better than fallout 3.

I've played the first two games and new vegas captures a hell of a lot more of the atmosphere and feel than fallout 3 did which is probably the most important aspect of the fire two games as lets face it, gameplay wise the first two were shocking compared to the newer games.

Agreed, plus New Vegas has a more colorful and visual appealing game world and the skills are better designed (combining big gun and small gun as gun and adding survival skill).

Though I definitely like the main storyline of Fallout 3 better, I found New Vegas to be better in every other respect. The game was much more open-ended, the atmosphere was occasionally hilarious (something FO3 was lacking), the characters were more affable, the tweaks present in NV were all for the better, and NV definitely had more elements of post-nuclear survivalism. The faction system was a genius addition; I don't think I could ever go back to Fallout 3 because of it.

New Vegas is to Fallout 3 as Fallout 2 was to the original Fallout. They're both a natural progression of the original engine, with more humor, more things to do, and a more open-ended feel.

I whole heartedly disagree with the first part of that post.

New vegas, while trying to impress the fanbase by saying it was more serious and less joking, was FAR worse in terms of the fluff of fallout, and felt a lot less serious. It had almost no history on the nuclear war, the only history I can remember is that Vegas was targetted by 57 nuclear warheads, all of which mr. house stopped. I found vegas's smaller, condensed map to be less exciting, as it was a 1 minute walk between even the most major cities. I know the walk from megaton to fort constantine in fallout 3 to have been one of my favourite gaming memories, because I stumbled upon so much stuff, little hidden things, evidence of people who had just tried to survive and failed. Vegas was all to happy, it wasnt very dark, it was to safe and civilised. The factions made it crap imo, the lone wanderers story line was a lot better. Operation Anchorage further enhanced Fallouts story dramatically, and overall, while quirky and kind of odd a times, Fallout 3 just had a bleak hopeless feel to it, kind of like 40k. Vegas was all strippers and music and drinking and gangs and no worries about surviving.

I am personally a big fan of the first two though.

There are many hidden things in new vegas, like the ranch with the dudes holotapes about how the brahmin want to kill him.

As for the main storyline, I found that to be very lacking in both fallout 3 and new vegas to be honest.

I personally think that new vegas is better although fo3 has better places than new vegas. fo3 places kinda have a backstory and there is more of them while new vegas tends to focus on characters (which fo3 is really lacking) and side quests. New Vegas's quests are also more connected together. For example superhuman gambit has no effect outside (that town where the quest is) while in new vegas every quest seems to effect the bigger picture.

But without mods both games ain't that great (still 10/10 games) compared to morrowind.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

I honestly think that new vegas is better than fallout 3, but the reason why I think you guys are disagreeing is that you played fallout 3 first and so when new vegas came out you were expecting something completely different. Now obviously it is not that different from fallout 3 but it's not supposed to be it is supposed to be the fallout that all the fans loved but with more streamlined systems. I personally loved it and I actually liked the storyline more than fallout 3 because of the factions and the freedom you have that wasn't given in fallout 3 plus the wide array of weapons and other things. I have yet to play the original games because I don't have PC to play them on...... I have a Mac

The sink.

I've played through New Vegas, but only partly through Fallout 3.

I find it incredibly irritating that there is no companion wheel in Fallout 3. I'll probably finish it at some point, though.

Honestly, excepting Boone and Fawkes I found all the current generation FO companions to be useless.

Veronica is pretty good if you put her in power armour purely because of how overpowered unarmed is in NV.

I played to level twenty as an unarmed character in Fallout 3. I played to about level five or so as an unarmed character in New Vegas before I rerolled as a character that used guns.

Unarmed might have some much better perks in New Vegas, but the way the Mojave is way more open than the Capitol Wasteland and the fact that you sustain damage while in VATS makes unarmed and melee much harder to use in New Vegas.

You use vats?

I just wear power armour and punch everything to death using my ballistic fist in real time, using the perk that removes 15 points of DT from the enemy when using unarmed REALLY helps for taking out those pesky deathclaws.

New Vegas is ok. Not even close to being as good as FO3.

Loved fallout 1 and 2, fallout 3 was better in terms of WTH is that thing, omfg run! NV just was oversaturated with cheesy weapons and storylines, and was such a small world that it really didn't convey to me the essence of an apocalyptic world, just the emptiness and the futility of life in such a wasteland.

Instead, its saying YAY we survived, now lets get smashed and go break a few skulls. Not really what I expected from a fallout game. I mean the vibe is there, but its not as intense and hopeless as it was in fallout 1 2 and 3.

Well I don't mind the game size of FONV, that being said I really wish there was a prolegion human, that and the storyline in general of Fallout New Vegas was really lame compared to FO3, so ignoring the story its really fun for the sandboxness of it, aside from that the only thing I give it over FO3 is ADS.

Yes, I use (or used) VATS for unarmed, because in Fallout 3 you were invincible during the VATS animation, and you would teleport to within range of the enemy. Now it's totally pointless, and now you simply charge in while getting shot the whole time. The -15 DT might be nice, but it takes forever to get to. Guns are much, much better than unarmed in FO:NV.

Meh, I am at level 21 and combat is trivial with unarmed whereas my level 30 guns character required some skill to use correctly.

I got bored with fallout NV. I just didn't care about anything I was doing and just wanted the game to be over about half way through. I guess I just didn't really like the characters much, I didn't feel like they even cared about themselves most of the time. Yes Man is kinda funny sometimes though.

I think NV had some of the better side quest but the main story is a bit bland also its not much fun having the same missons for the different factions for the main quests.

You have to stick with it longer, by level 15 a well built melee/unarmed new vegas char with the right drug cocktail is pretty much unstoppable.

Aye, true enough. That was a bit of a cheap shot.

While I like what they were trying to do with New Vegas, they failed. Fallout one through three are the better games imho.
