Subject: Wound Allocation Strikes Again.

Greetings. Had the following situation come up in a recent game. Please let me know what is correct.
3 different battlesuits and 2 shield drones are in combat. They take 4 power weapon wounds, and 6 normal wounds. Wound allocation goes as follows:
Drone 1 and drone 2 take pw wound. suits 1-3 take normal wounds. now everyone has an allocated wound.
drone 1 and drone 2 take another pw wound, suits 1-3 take another normal wound. Now everyone has even wounds, and a second wound was not allocated before a model suffered its first wound.
The attacking opponent argued that wounds must be distributed by type, so, i would have to assign all of the power weapon wounds first, before coming back and assigning wounds of a different type. so,
SD1 and 2 take pw wound, suit 1 and 2 take pw wound, suit 3 takes normal wound, everyone has 1.
everyone takes 2nd normal wound.
I could not find anything in the rulebook in regards to having to allocate by "type" because the rule book doesn't differentiate wounds by "type". The guidance is to assign wounds and no model may take a 2nd wound until everyone else has 1. He vehemently argued that my allocation method was wrong, but couldn't find anything in the rulebook to support his claim, and argued that in "offical" tournaments, my method of wound allocation was wrong.
Please advise.

Fairness and next edition might work by type but RAW is as you played it.
To be fair we house rule that you assign by AP (so 5 men taking 2 plasma shots and 4 bolter shots = plasma+bolter/plasma/bolter/bolter/bolter.
RAW allows : plasma+plasma/bolter/bolter/bolter/bolter.

You were spot on, that is the downside with oversaturating a target with wounds. My Fiends routinely rend SM with Melta guns 3 or 4 times to kill them and somehow fail to apply that same gusto to the rest of the squad!

Agree with above posters supporting you. Furthermore, if your opponent wants to play by "official" tournament rules, then he needs to show you that "official" tournament's rules and gain your agreement to use them before the game.
I had an opponent who refused to play unless I used bizarre Spore Mine rules he'd made up to nerf their perceived effectiveness - sorry, which a GW redshirt had suggested as a fix to a model shortage - sorry, which GW used in "official" tournaments - sorry, which GW had "officially" edited into the Codex. Never once produced evidence for any of his increasingly authoritative claimed sources.
I don't play TFG any more.
