Is the use of the kroot konga line the worst sin in human history?
I think it is
I think it isn't
I don't know what a kroot konga line is, and won't bother to look it up

I won in a tournament with this horrible, unforgivable strategy.

Am I a bad person?

I ruined the final round of a large tourney with the sheer cheapness of it tho.

I feel bad.

The GK didn't even see it coming...

That's what people get for putting all of their units in reserves against an army that relies on shooting and can field a large number of infiltrators, I also think it's a hilarious way to win.

If I'm right...

GK Reserved everything and Im2 infiltrated his Kroot in a massive line covering his enemies board edge.

With enough Kroot and 2" spacing you can easily achieve this.

I don't think it is dirty or cheap because the GK should know better than to reserve EVERYTHING ffs.

I say well done on using your brain and another notch for the Greater Good.

Oh thnx for explanation, however how big unit of kroots you need for this? Moreover are they so scary in shooting, that he needed to reserve everything ~?

It really bugs me when people reserve everything, as it can waste up to two full turns, so kudos.

I did.

But then I was just as dirty and used an almost-exclusively Forge World army+FW and kroot.

Because the edge of the board is the edge of the world. For the same reason that fleeing units mysteriously disappear once they're off board and 40k doesn't allow units to come back onto the board (barring the Mawloc), though fantasy does.

He could. Shunting would work too, as would deep striking or outflanking, although the latter to would have to be declared in advance.

Not sure you can shunt onto the board...but this was before the new GK codex anyway... I think it was before the Tyranid codex too.

He would have been better off if he was running strike squads, interceptors, and termie armor guys, if he had declared that they were deepstirking. Still, you have to be pretty dumb to declare all reserves against armies that have large infiltrating units, or large bike squads (you can turbo boost turn one, then if going first, or during dawn of war, be on the board edge turn turn 2, when the reserves come in).

He could have tank-shocked onto the board just fine. If the tank was stopped before fully getting onto the board - either by a death or glory attach or a failed difficult terrain test - then the tank and squad inside are lost. The new FAQ addressed models off the board.

If it's the same event that I'm thinking about, this all happened more than a year ago.

Oh, you were talking about stretching across the board edge. When you say "conga line", I think of stretching 30 boyz around different terrain features, other units, etc., to receive a cover save.

That's why I said orks do it all the time. About what you did - no, I don't think it cheapens anything. He was trying to get the drop on you by reserving everything. Then, you got the drop on him.

You could've turned in your score sheets, then asked if he really wanted to play, though.

Since he has to deploy before infiltrators, the GK player would have to DS stuff before being aware of the konga line.

Which is an obvious play when the tau player has large kroot units... So its really all on the GK player for being a bad player. Hey, I'm not deploying or deepstriking against a guy who has enough infiltrating units to cover my board edge... Yeah, you have to be a moron to not see that coming. Its about as bad as opting to deepstrike your entire army against a GK player with strike squads and interceptors, but only more so.

End of thread. There's no malice in getting an easy win, just bad play on behalf of the opponent. I mean, why would you *choose* to walk GK foot units on off of the board edge sans any transports? That makes no sense whatsoever.

Bad opponent. Move on.
