I never saw discussion about those 2 species figting amongs themselves. The scenario is that the one Ork Warboss found a great Ork empire and he is gartering his forces for a mighty WARGHHH!!!!! And then like scene at Damnos, first they lost contact with the north of the planet - then Necrons show up.
This discussion is hard for me to pinpoint a winner. Necrons have a tech, and it's their playground. But Orks have HUGE numbers, and some tech...

So, do you think that Necrons would purge the Orks or will the Orks stomp the Necrons. Like in every Imperium vs. Tau thread we are counting everything. I relly don't know who wpuld win in this scenario, Orks have known to beat the technologically superior races before ( like they almost defeat Imperium at Armageddon ). And Necrons have always have place to go and rebuild, but Orks would just enter the tombs and attack them while repairing. Thoughts?

For Emperor and Imperium!!!!
None shall stand against the Crusade of the Righteous!!!

The Emperor doesn't have a GKs unshakable faith in the Emperor which is....basically himself?

Depending on how fertile the world is, I'd say orks. They were _designed_ to take out the necron threat. that and they'd probably be the only non-necron race to use gauss weapons if they could just get the damned things to stop teleporting away...
The sheer weight of the green tide would get rid of the necrons eventually.

Unless the necrons can purge the whole planet with something big then the orks will always be there, they might fight an endless war but eventually either the necrons destroy all life/biomass on the planet or orks smash up anything that is shinny and metal

I'm not sure what effect the Waaagh energy would have on the Necrons, it would maybe give the Orks the upper hand. As the Orks get more and more riled up I guess the Necrons start to lose more and more.

Orks could possibly be the best warriors against the Necron threat.

They fought on Angelis after the Mechanicum awoke the Necron Tomb that was on the planet. The Ork space hulk that had crashed there and the Mechanicus team were all eventually killed by the awakening Necrons there so I believe it is fair to say that the Necrons would win this one

You don't have enough information potentially.

*What are the size of the necron forces on the tombworld?

*How many orks and what are the natural resources on the planet? Do the orks get wiped out initially from surprise or do they have to Spore Up?

*Do the orks quickly sense the awakening necrons? After all they were built to fight necrons and Enslavers. Their waugh/latent psychic powers might detect "Sumthin amiss" pretty quickly.

*Are there necron fleets about or ork fleets of sufficient size to oppose them?

However, assuming there is no necron or ork fleets available, if this is a heavily populated ork planet or systems of planets (you noted a potential waugh starting) then there are susbstantial ork forces and infrastructure there. If thats the case then the orks are on much more equal footing and I would give it to them. Again, this is literally what they wer born for and would have a smashing good time doing it.

I don't know where you got this, but it's incorrect. The basic design of the ork was to be resilient, numerous, and formidable. They were designed to be excellent cannon fodder.

To be fair, a single space hulk is not that many orks. Waaagh! Garaghak is one of the smaller ones(though one of the best equipped ones), and numbers about two billion orks with single warbands as big as 50k orks and about a dozen spacehulks in addition to many Rokks, Battleships and looted Spacestations. I don't think any tomb world would be able to stand in the way of a full scale Waagh!, though they might stop as single warband easily.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

It's old fluff. The Old Ones created the Orks to combat the necron/enslaver threat with unending hordes of muscle. I could be wrong, but I'm not the only one if that's the case...

Along with a bunch of other races, not exclusiively

It reads more that they were cultivating a number of races, including the Krork (orks) and Eldar. They armed them, and threw them into the war vs the Necrons because they were losing. The Enslaver plague happened after this, as the new psychic races started fooling with the warp during the war.

It was the Enslaver Plague, not the Old Ones (dead) or their creations that drove the necrons to hibernate.

In a scenario like this, I’m going with the Necrons. With a war on such scale as this (a planet full of Orks) the big “N” would be happy to show up for the feast. And if we are talking fluff and not table top, when the Nightbringer shows up, it’s all over. He alone would devour the entire Ork population on the planet. I’m sure the Deceiver wouldn’t mind snacking too if the Nightbringer didn’t show.

Raziel: By choosing his own death? A sacrifice for the world? You don't know Kain very well.

C'tan aside, Necrons are machines, right?
Well they look like machines and that's all that would count to Orks. LOOT 'EM!

A new day, a new time zone.

That's not really how the C'tan work. The codex shows what their power level is when they stuff themselves into a necrodermis shell so that they can interact with something as insignificantly small as a planetary battlefield. So if they joined the battle themselves, there's a good chance that sooner or later someone with a power klaw is going to ruin their fancy pants.

Orks have nigh-unlimited numbers. Necrons don't, even if there's a lot of them. The real eternal question of "fight that goes nowhere" has always been Orks vs. Tyranids since they're both potentially limitless.

I'd say that given even numbers necrons would win..

Unfortunately for everyone's favourite T-800 clones orks don't believe in even numbers, as their counting skills consist of 'wun, too, free, many, fug it.. dakka dakka dakka.....'

Orks are simply too populous to cleanse barring a necron version of exterminatus. Best bet would be to kill the world's atomsphere, as Necrons have no need to breathe, but ork spores presumably need a biosphere to grow.

Acually the codex shows a TABLE TOP PLAYABLE version newly awakened Nightbringer that was weak from millions of years of starvation and they still own on the battlefield. The more C'tan eat the stronger they get. And if you dont think they chowed a few stars in the meantime I think you underestimate the hunger and power of the C'tan. I'm pretty sure that since he left Pavonis the Nightbringer has eaten a few systems and rebuffed himself.

However, at the time of the birth of the Enslaver Plague, the Necrons were losing. It took the Enslavers to stop your grandad's Waaugh.

They were losing ground, but they did achieve the total wipeout of the Old Ones with a little help from the Enslavers (who were happy to much both sides ) before they went into hibernation

The Enslaver plague was the final straw for the C'Tan, as it was consuming everything else, so they went to sleep to wait it out.

They were a bit startled to find humans, eldar and especially orks EVERYWHERE when they re-awoke

The orks had regressed, but they like it that way
