Subject: SOME companies are still MAN enough for METAL
So I hear that some companies have decided they're too wimpy for metal models, probably afraid they'll strain their puny arms or maybe get some molten lead on their pretty dresses, but some companies are still MAN ENOUGH for metal.
Like REAPER!
Let's see how they're doing!
Sure there's lots of succubi out there, and lots of succubi with whips. But how many succubi with whips and Desert Eagles are there? Once more Reaper fills a valuable gaming niche.
Now maybe you've seen their mouslings, cute little rodents dressed as knights and wizards and such. But what if you're a moderns or sci-fi player? What then? Huh? Huh? WHAT THEN?
That then.
And from their fantasy line we have a few new things.
First up a horny sorceress. She's horny get it? Literally horny! GET IT?
Then we have Familiars Pack X.
I assume the X is for XTREME! Because it has only the most XTREME animals in it. Look at this thing, you've got Sword Hawk, Smaug Jr, Baby Succubus, Hunchy the Demon, and Mr. Wrinkles the XTREME Turtle.
And then...
AN ELF! With a bow! Where do they get their ideas?
Here we have a female elf thief. I love the pose but why she only steals female elfs is beyond me.
And a Red Mantis Assassin and for once I think my usual joke does not work here since I think she actually does assassinate red mantises
The nice thing about Ostog the Unslain (above) is that's ripe for a sequel mini, Ostog the Slain, and then Ostog the Zombie, Ostog the Skeleton, Ostog the Pile of Dust and finally Ostog the Memories.
From their sci-fi line...
Some nobody from a book about a submarine.
'Townfolk Geeks' I'll let someone else do the punchline for that one.
I dunno. I really don't know. I honestly didn't realize they made power armor in husky sizes.
But while you're waiting for Codex Sisters of Battle (7 years now...) you might want to check out these
Three gorgeous models that are not based on Sucker Punch and do not represent Baby Doll nor Amber nor Sweat Pea.
Coming up they've got some cool stuff!
Another classic fantasy monster, if I remember correctly this is an Umber Hulk.
I'm so glad this fellow is finally coming out. Just last week I wanted my party to encounter a Leprechaun riding an owl but didn't have the right mini so they had to encounter an Umber Hulk instead. Now they'll be meeting Leprechauns on owls every week!
Here's a guy with a ton of uses! Paint his coat black like vestments and he can be a preacher who read an evil book and went mad. Paint it white and he can be a scientist who read an evil book and went mad. Paint it brown and he can be a professor who read an evil book and went mad. The potential is limited only by your imagination!
I have no use for Herr Doktor Steampunk Powerfist but I love him anyway.
So there we are, the latest from the company that's not afraid to use metal!
Check them out at your FLGS!

Um, this is actually me with the 8th Edition Rule Book for WHFB. Yeah, I'm mad!!
Love this update KK. Some really outstanding releases in this group and your commentary was hilarious!
The secret to painting a really big army is to keep at it. You can't reach your destination if you never take any steps.
I'm sorry, Kid, I couldn't hear you over all the HEAVY METAL
in this thread.

Ouze on GW: "I'd like to be like, hey baby, you're a freak but you just got too much crazy going on, and I don't hook up with bunny boilers. But then Necrons are going to come out, and I'm going to be like damn girl, and then next thing you know, it's angry sex time again.
It's complicated."

Thank you, Kid Kyoto, the whole thing made me laugh pretty hard, you rock.
On topic: these models are pretty sweet, but I don't know of any uses I could have for them. But now I'm going to be awake all night, trying to think of something witty for the crazy guy in the coat with the book.
Maybe paint his coat tie-dye and he can be a hippie who couldn't read the evil book but was driven insane anyways? Feels weak, eh, I'm too tired to care.

Holy gak that is an awesome username. Please tell me your army is called Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Morathi's Darkest Sin has some competition here for best handle, I think.

I love the rodents and power armor...dare they combine the two?

I lol'd so hard at this.
Is there a game based around all the anthropomorphic animals they have?

If they were good, I mean really good, they'd be liquid metal.

You left out the manliest Reaper metals of all - the P65 Heavy Metal range that actually has lead in it! Delicious toxic minis.
I love me some Reaper - they have literally tons of great minis. I've picked up several to paint and they've all been awesome. The problem is they don't really have a "range" that grabs me. I know they Warlord and whatnot - but they seem more like a loose affiliation of somewhat similar models than "an army." So while I may pick up a Vampire here or a battlenun there, and as many mouslings as I can get my hands on, there's no Reaper line up that I want to collect all of. If I ever get around to building a Mantic undead army Reaper is totally supplying all my character models (that's what the Vampire is for).

Aside from awesome sculpts, Reaper also manages to keep things VERY affordable.
Eg. A while back I was in Sydney and their latest releases were $6 for a blister of this mini:

Some really good and Manly stuff there.
Love the Succubus. Remove the wings and BANG, you've got yourself an awesome miniature for Shadowrun.
I need to get those mouselings. I don't know why or what for, but I need them.
