I tried posting images in this P&M blog, http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/371874.page linking an image in my gallery and have it show up mid-post by putting (img) and (/img) before and after the link to the picture (with square brackets), but nothing happened.
I also tried following the Images Tutorial http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Image_Tutorial and I copied the entire code out of the "Dakka Articles" field in the "Share This Image" section and pasted it as-is into my thread (with and without any additional brackets ). Again when I load the page, I can't see anything...

Where did I go wrong?
How can I solve this?

You linked to the web pages, not the images themselves. On the images in the gallery, look in the bottom right, under the image. There you will find 'forums' listed, and you can copy and paste the code from the box there to put the images into forum posts here and on other sites too.
