Adolescent Youth with Potential

Hi all!
This is my first thread here on Dakka (apart the introductory one). I'm starting a small Iron Warriors force (for now) after being deeply impressed/inspired by the huge quantity and quality of the work in this forum and in the gallery, in particular:

So it begins... with the test model..
I had an old BT dreadnought, which I stumbled over, and it was beyond any repair.
I started scratching and adding more battle damage, chopped off CCW, and replaced the sarcophagus with one from SM Venerable Dread.
Before adding Hazard Stripes
and after...
Added Weathering

Really love your dreadnought, the rust effects and hazard stripes are really great! It's always nice to see more Iron Warriors =)

A good start on the dreadnought- is there a particular reason it only has one arm?
Also- I thought you were Brother Caramel. Oops.

@Limbo: thank you very much for the help! It worked. I'll edit the whole post with pictures asap...
@CadianXV: the dread has only one arm because when I first assembled it, back in 2002, I didn't thought about changing weapons, so I glued the arm to the main body and when I changed paint scheme accidentaly ripped it off and since then it has been a reversed joint.

Subject: Legio IV - Siegemasters - My take on Iron Warriors - UPDATE! Daemon Prince (Image Heavy)

Adolescent Youth with Potential

UPDATE TIME!
It seems that nearly a month has passed since the last update , so I'm assuming that this it will be a blog of nearly endless lenght and random updates...
So, let's start with my daemon prince, which I assembled with the 40k sword and the slightly insulting left hand.
(I plan to use the other bits to build an objective marker with a daemon bound to a rock, like Prometheus in greek mythology)
Model primed black, sprayed with tamiya gunmetal, with a purple wash
Armour trim and cables basecoated with tin bitz, clothes, horns and spikes painted with calthan brown
Extra armour (done in the same fashion of the rest of the model)
Forearm armour basecoated vomit brown before doing hazard stripes
Armour trim drybrushed gold and armour plates painted yellow
golen trim and power cables washed with hawk turquoise for verdigris
more verdigris, and hazard stripes done on main armour
extra armour finished, with hazard stripes and highlights
model fully assembled with extra armour
progress on the sword, blue wash not yet dried
sword finished. it's out of focus!
For the base, I decided to go on with the wasteland/mad max feel of the test model' s base, this time adding the missing dreadnought close combat weapon, a sarcophagus plate, a highway signal, some cogs and wheels
from this...
wips
to this:
I haven't added yet some static grass and some final dust effects to blend the model with the base.
OPINION NEEDED!
At this point I need some advice about the model positioning:
Pose A
or
Pose B
Which of the two does seem better?

So, this is the situation:
Pose A - 0 votes
Pose B - 3 (+ mine) votes
@Warmastersolon, bigmek35 and Calvinus: thanks for the advice!
So, let's go with the more intimidating pose.
I'll pin the model to the base and add some "burnt grass" asap...
@Popsicle: For the blue weathering, I added a wash of thinned hawk turquoise over the recesses of shoulder pads, armour and gold trim, followed by another one (hawk turquoise+ bleached bone) just on the chest armour and over some power cables..

Troops
I started building my first two CSM squads. The plan is to have initially two large squads of infantry: a 12 csm squad, and a 10 csm squad (with a Rhino).
According to the fluff, a tendency towards operating in multiples of three has been noted between Iron Warriors, so my second squad should be of 9 elements but if so, I couldn't equip a heavy weapon.
my workspace
++Squad A++
Aspiring champion with Power Fist and Combimelta - The backpack is an old techmarine one with servo-arm.
Specialist Weapon with meltagun - A Space Crusade CSM! I've just glued the two standard sm hands. For the backpack I'm going to use the one from the sm devastator squad sergeant
++Squad B++
Aspiring champion with Power Weapon and Combimelta - The old techmarine I stoled the servo-arm. I also had to replace his left arm, because I chopped it long ago to build a Veteran DA sergeant with bionic arm. The Combimelta is a conversion I made using a standard bolter and a Infernus Pistol from the BA Death Company box. The axe is from the plastic CSM Terminator Lord. A Space Crusade Backpack, along with the hanging spikes and the filed mechanicus cog on the chest should give him a more chaotic look.
The other CSMs are the ones from Space Crusade, with some little touches, like the changed shoulder pad, or the blade under the missile launcher (which will be swappable, for a normal bolter if I make a 9 elements squad). For the backpacks I plan to mix new and old ones.
All new and old models will be mixed between the two squads, except for the two aspiring champions.
