Well with the sisters of battle release within 6 months to a year away if the rumors are to be believed. Well anyways while i was picking up some paint at my FLGS I spotted a cannoness model and I decided to pick it up while i was there. I was just going through some possible paint schemes for it and I know I want to do the armor in the same gray that my SW are in as seen here.... (it's a codex gray base with a fortress gray drybrush, then skull white highlight drybrush, then a delvan mud wash. Once dry skull white is then again drybrushed on to bring out edges and highlights.)
I just can't seam to decide what color to do the robes in so I pulled up the bolter & chainsword army painter and these are what I came up with...
The basics are Gray armor, gold iconography, green helmet lenses, black inner armor, keep the helmet face plate white.
White
Regal Blue
Necron Abyss (very dark blue)
Blood Red
Red Gore
Dark Angels Green

Red Gore is my first choice, Dark Angel Green is my second.

The white shoulders was an interesting idea. So I quickly did up a Red Gore and a DA green variants. I do have to say this is gonna be a tough choice.

See how beautiful it is with white shoulders? :3
human eyes are incredibly picky , they search for balance to counter the mass of gray on boots which was counterbalanced by the knee decor + belt decor

Indeed I do agree. Now its between red or green. The red looks nice, but the green is something I havn't seen on sob.

Why not do all of them?
Sisters of the Grey Dawn.
The colored cloth areas designate seperate squads/units/ranks/etc.

Hmm, good name. Order of the Gray Dawn perhaps would be a bit more 40k correct I suppose to keep with the naming of the other orders millitant.
I'll have to give you credit for the name and Lunahound for the white shoulders.

I also vote green, because the red is very heavily used. On the other hand, the red is so heavily used because it looks so good. So why pick? Agree with dkellyj - do different squads with different colored robes.

I have stumbled on a similar problem, and I have settled on a gray base as well. What bothers me most is that a majority of color schemes seem fine on infantry, but translating that scheme to the vehicles in a cohesive ratio seems to be more of a problem.
When I get the time I, am going to sacrifice an immolator and see what color pattern work well and copy the ratio to the infantry.
Since your choice of gray is on the lighter side, in my opinion, I would go with a darker and more rich color to contrast the neutral tone of the armor. Since it appears you will be having gold trim, which is a warm color, I would contrast that with a cool color. This narrows the choice down to green blue or purple. As long as you go with a dark shade of any of these colors and highlight to a vibrant color, I dont think you can go wrong.
Personally I like imperial purple best, but they stopped making that color.

Gray armor with gold trim always looks nice, so points for that one.
When you get to the contrasting 'habit and tabard', you've got a couple of options. Solid colors can look nice and be effective with that simple Dark Angels Green or Necron Abyss color, but if you've got the time and inclination--you can really jazz it up with some freehanded kind of 'brocade' along the trim. Do that trim in white to really set off the dark color of the cloth and you get something amazing.

I have also toyed around with doing that as well, as a way to do unit markings. I was inspired by the Illustraion for Jeanne D'Arc from Infinity's Pan Oceana faction.

I would vote green robes, as it's different to what many SoB have currently, and IMO look nicer.
