Its made from a scout shotgun, and the antenna from a vehicle sprue. The scope is also from the scout sprue I think.
I've thought of maybe filing off the pump-action handle, and adding a clip from a lasgun or something similar.
Personally I'm pretty happy about it, definately saves me some cash. Please share if you have any ideas for making it better, or just have a better idea to make your own sniper rifle for SM scouts.
I agree with Valk, that barrel is way, way long. Also, grab some thin plastic rod and add an under-barrel stabilizer, similar to this:
With conversions and scratch builds, the more details you add, the more natural it ends up looking.

Good work, I'd leave the pump as it kind of naturally looks like a handgrip. A bipod underneath that barrel would look good too, maybe take the one from a scout heavy bolter.
For the Emperor! Kill Maim Burn!... I mean purge the unclean!
I like it, but the Barrel's a bit ridiculous.
That'd be like a 9 foot barrel.
But, then again, it could be mobile 25mm artillery.
If you don't cut it down much, I agree with the previous posts.
I'd add a gas return or an elongated grip. Maybe put a ridiculously long Bipod on it.
Maybe try to put a rail on it or a ribbed heat-sink. I like the idea of the Heat sink.
If you want some good inspiration check this out.
Word of warning, though. For some of the Russian rifles, Get a barf bag.

As everyone said, the barrel is too long. Second, IM surprised no one mentioned it but it has no shoulder stock. For something that needs precision and usually pack a big punch, a shoulder stock is definitely needed.

Yeah, as I said in an earlier post, im currently trying to make one.
I don't have anything new to add, but I agree that it is way too long.

if you toss a stock on it it would look like sone sort of anti tank rifle. I think you should maby cut it down just a tiny bit and the toss a bipod on it

I'm going to jump in here and disagree with the ruling on the barrel. I think it fits the sometimes-absurd proportions of the 40k aesthetic; plus, trimming it down would take away from the detail at the end of it, which would be hard to reconstruct.
I would add a shoulder rest -- you can borrow one from a plasma gun without affecting the donor's appearance too terribly -- as well as a bipod and other hefty-looking bits to give it an anti-materiel rifle appearance. (Small caliber doesn't quite cut it in the 41st millennium, now does it? )

I dunno... I imagined the sept guarding the Perdus rift would wear the same black armour as Ulthwe eldar. Maybe being in close proximity to the warp makes you emo.
He has a point.
Maybe don't cut down the barrel much, but make it thicker.
It sort of looks like it's shooting pistol rounds right now.
Maybe add an Autocannon rotary mag to it and some other nasty bitz to make it look brutal.
I cut off the barrel, shortened it and put it back on.
I added a bipod.
I added a clip from a lasgun.
Tomorrow I will try and make a shoulder rest/stock from greenstuff. I tried fitting one from a lasgun, but it seems too much hazzle to make it fit right.
The bipod is from the scout heavy bolter I think. It was the only one in the set (SM Battleforce), so I will have to come up with a way to make some for the other sniper rifles I need. Though I'm considering not making them all look identic, and make them more "specialized" towards the individual scouts preference. (As in having different bits on each one, some with bipod, some with scopes connected to their helmets, laser targeting systems etc. - I'll see what sort of good stuff I can come up with)

Cool idea with the autocannon mag, though it's not something I have in my bitz box, maybe someone in my FLGS can help me out.

I whole heartedly agree. Dont chop the barrel its looks great. Use the stock from the plasma gun if you have one as it wouldnt need much converting to have it look good, just shave of the hammer and glue it in there. If you have any thin plastic or brass rod a stabiliser under the barrel would help bulk the gun out a bit and would stop the barrel looking so weird.
Top notch job.

I have to say, I thought about doing this myself. I was too cowardly to do it myself, but you have showed me that it works well. I think this looks really nice. The only thing I might want to add is a silencer. Other than that, though, this looks awesome.
That's really unrealistic. Without a stock, the recoil would be unmanageable on a sniper rile. Even rifles modded with large scopes that have pistol grips have stocks.
Here's a pic of the Navy's new sniper rifle. At least, I think that's the one.
My two cents.

Just so we're clear.
You're criticizing the realism of models for a game where people live for 10,000 + years, there's a god-king who's kept alive by a chair, aliens can eat other aliens and absorb their traits and power, there are 7+ foot tall guys who's standard rifle fires a massive .75 caliber round and they can manage the recoil no problem, and there are magic space vikings from an ice planet who ride giant wolves and have fangs and can best a tank with a battleaxe.
Just putting that out there.

Sounds like the project is coming along nicely. I would strongly recomend filling in the groove that the shotgun pump slides in. Most sniper rifles are not pump action, and it's the only dead giveaway that you're basing it off a shotgun.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO don't listen to these fools! That barrel is/was amazingly sexy! Recoil? Pffftt Geneseed, bro.
I'd kill for a squad of scouts with those snipers in OP.

So, yeah - I shortened the barrels, and regretted it. But then I tried putting one on in full length, and it just looked awful besides the shorter ones.
Anyways, my horrible horrible GS skills allowed me to, do something, that is supposed to resemble a stock. I'm confident though, that once painted it will look okay'ish. I also found some high caliber guns in my bits box, that I'm toying around with, to fit on the last two snipers, to make them more anti-material and overpowered looking, but I'm not yet sure how it will come out.
Also, I'm out of bipods, so if anyone has a nice idea how to make some, please let me know.
On one sniper I added a clip from a lasgun, and on another a clip from a bolter, and the bolter one looks by far the best I think. I also filled the pump action railings by advice, and it was a good call, thanks!
Looks pretty good, the design is really coming along.
As far as the stock, are you using keeping your sculpting tool wet? I'm not much with green stuff, but I find I get smoother results with a wet tool. That said, you could use a piece of sprue cut and filed to shape for a stock as well.
Yeah, I throw some water on which really helps smoothing it out, but as you can tell, I'm a real novice at this. I think I will scrape/sand a bit off to make it more smooth.
