2x Psyrifle Dread
1498 Pt total

vs.

2x TLLC Vendettas with Vet Squads
Manticore
Basilisk
2x Heavy flamer Chimeras with HQ in it
Mech Platoon 2x Chimeras
Sly Marbo
not sure on all the exacts.

Basically pretty sure the only way to win this one is to exploit terrain for days. Played against this yesterday but got immobilised on 3 of 4 rhinos first turn.
Any input?

You are so horribly outdone here, his list is designed to take out yours. All I can say is try get close as possible fast as possible and psycannon those tanks. Try to make sure Marbo comes in BEFORE you disembark or get into combat before he blows 200 points of marines off the table. Shoot the Vendettas with the Psyflemen, then target the manticore.

If you trim your purifiers squads down to squads of 5 or 6 with 2 psycannon, hammer, 2-3 halberds in a rhino you should be able to afford a 3rd psyrifleman dreadnought to provide more ranged fire power.

If you don't get first turn reserving is a pretty good idea and when you arrive pick a flank to arrive on to avoid taking all the firepower and target vendettas first then the manticore.

Is it really neccessary to have that many purifiers since your facing mainly mechanized foe, I would suggest taking a couple of them squads out and replace them with something else.

Looks like a pretty standard mech guard list to me. Granted, the standard is anti-tank and anti-MEQ, and a low model-count army like the GK play right into that.

i know not of GK yet, but i know guard. he's making sure all/most of his infantry is bs.4, and can carry 3-4 special weapons per squad. if you kill his hq, he loses orders and a bs.4 unit loaded with weapons probably.

kill his vets, he loses his bs4. heavy hitters. they get 3 special weapons, probably meltaguns or plasma guns if he's smart.

sly is there to pop out on your juciest infantry unit. he stinks at anti tank, so as mentioned earlier, do not disembark early. he might be able to get a lucky shot on a rhino with his demo charge, but better the rhino than an unprotected infantry unit.

the bassie and manticore are there for pie plate pain. if you can kill those, good. but his infantry will probably hurt you more.

the normal squads in chimeras are filler. ignore them and kill the hq and vets.

i just taught you how to dismantle a tailored guard army. now update your list and watch his face melt as you play. lol.

Next time I play him there will be dreadknights involved, and more MSU for the sake of wider target saturation. Not sure when the game will happen though, but I've got some ideas
