Is there any way to get a cover safe against a blast template outside of wargear like KFF? For instance if there is one unit directly in front of another an is fired at by a blast template which scatters to the back group, out of los, does this get a cover save? Thanks for any clarification that could be given!

as far as i know you dont get a cover save from intervining models\

You do receive cover from intervening terrain and models, as long as 'any part of the target models body is obscured from the point of view of the firer'. P.21

If at least 50% of the unit is at least partly covered then you get a cover save. P.22


Barrage is a different story.

Uh, you can take saves from blast markers just fine. The only template in the game is the flame template which does not allow any saves, even those provided from a Kustom Force Field, etc.

You mean they do not allow any cover saves.

You can still take Invulnerable saves and Armor saves, if the AP is not enough to ignore your armor save, against Flame template weapons

Yes you can take the cover save as everyone has already pointed out. The only thing that I always thought would make the game a bit better is make it so a single save is taken for the entire blast weapon. Makes sense to me, the missile either hit or missed a wall on the way to you.

Since the subject of the discussion is about cover saves I thought it was obvious. After all, the OP seemed to understand that templates do not allow cover saves, he was just mistaken on what is actually a template and what is a marker.

Popping smoke is one, obvious, way.

I think the OP is confused between blast markers, and Barrage weapons that use blast markers.

With normal Blast weapons, you work out cover as normal - from the direction of the firing model

With Barrage weapons you work out if there is cover between the centre of the blast and the models that are hit.

Unless otherwise stated you do get cover saves from Ordinance weapons unless otherwise stated.

For ordinance it depends on where the shot hit. If you are in cover and the shot lands in cover you get a save. If you are in the open and get nailed then no save. Even then some barrage weapons do ignore cover (those are stated in the weapon profile)

If it is ordinance you determine cover from the perspective of the firing model.

my input, lol. there is so many types for this. there is blast, ordinace, barrage, and flamer. if it says "template" its the tear shaped template an thats used for flamers or "bio-acid from a nid maybe", it ignores cover/cover saves but you can still make a save throw "if the AP isnt equal or lower then ur armour" an you can use stuff like a invon or feel no pain save against flamer/template. barrage you can get cover depends on if there is cover between the center hole of the blast marker and the targer. ordinance an blast you can an cant get cover saves. if you are in some kind of cover or behind another friendly unit you get a cover save. if you are out in the open you dont get no cover save of any kind
