Most likely not, they would be considered "weak" or some other excuse for getting rid of those less fortunate in their genetic makeup.

The Imperium wouldn't consider it worth the effort.

there are people who don't have the problems that can get the job done just fine. why bother with additional effort just to get on par with everyone else.

the Imperium doesn't need bright minds. it needs soldiers and warleaders(bright minds and martial prowess arn't mutually exclusive, but they arn't mutually dependent either)

they probably have medical treatments avaliable for some disorders, but its probably only for the very rich or on worlds where they might care(like Ultramar)

The only support they'd be getting from the Imperium would come in the form of an artillery battery, as most likely they'd find themselves being volunteered into the Guard.

Again, Imperium is medically advanced. On some Hive Worlds, those who are disabled with something can have treatment ( they give him new arm, new leg... ).
But those who are mentally disabled are considered weak.

Like Gay Rights, tt really isn't the Imperium's concern. How mentally/physically handi-capped people are treated would depend entirely on how brutal life on the planet is.

I'm sure there are civilised worlds that support them, and I'm also equally sure that there are brutal regimes that have them rounded up and executed. On Death Worlds like Catachan the survival of the fittest will probably wean out a fair few (to put it bluntly).

I don't know if they would go out of their way to exterminate them, but they certainly wouldn't support them, there is very little social security in the Imperium, only those that are strong enough or rich enough survive. Also, let's face it the Imperium are space fascists, purity is their goal, but they would have little time and resources to hunt disables down, as they have much bigger fish to fry.

What would be interesting though is what they might so with savants. They might actually try to breed them for certain advantages. Train them to be mentat-ish.

Grim Forgotten Nihilist Forest.

It would depend on the world.

Say on Fenris you would die from falling into a random hole and into smoldering lava. Or ice cold water where you instantly feint and then drown due to the sheer numbess you embrace. Or mercilessly killed by a rogue Wulfen bent on yiffing your family to death. This is if the Fenrisian people do not kill their young who are deformed, mentally handicapped at birth, as many cultures did and some still do.

On the lower end of a Hive World, you'd likely get thrown away. And die without knowing how to properly defend yourself.

Optimism mode.

Your on a planet that human followers of the Tau Empire live on, this is a huge what if. But for devoting yourself to the Greater Good, you are cured of your disorder. Which honestly as a youth with a few bolts in his head loose. That is a pretty nice idea.

Your on a civillized world, which does exist in the Imperium of man. Your taken care of much like in the real world.

...Or your inducted into the Guard. He can point a flashlight right?

Yes and no. They'd find some use for them, but that use might not be too uplifting, most likely servitors.

I would assume most would end up labelled mutants and 'purged' or turned into servitors/thralls/other. I am thinking it would really depend on the severity of the disability.

I think the average would be between tolerated and killed. Most worlds where life is a physical struggle (savage / death worlds) wouldn't bother as the chance of them surviving would be very low. On hives they would probably just be thrown into one of the lowest possible jobs and left there.

It depends on what the lifestyle is and how crippling the disability. If they can function they would probably get the same treatment as everyone else. If they can't work they would have to be provided for by their family or left to die.

The imperium isn't very keen on helping people who can't contribute. Human life is cheap- while medicine is advanced it's also very expensive.

Probably not, deviation from human perfection is the height of heresy. At best, they would turn you into a servitor.

+1,

This is why lasguns have an arrow on them so you know which way to point it. Kind of like the US army and the claymore mines.

If they can't read....they might not last long.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

It's really smart they printed the directions on the thing, I know the front goes toward enemy now .........but which part is the front?
