I have had this problem when I played my second game and it was agasint a Tau player. I was using my 1800 point army of Chaos marines and he wiped me out and he told me that I sould not play again or get a new army. See I hate it when I play with someone who is like this, I'm more about having a good time and just having a fun game...what are your thoughts?

Get whoever owns the space you play in to throw him out.

Modeling, paiting, playing... it's all for fun. But, like in everything, people take it too seriously.

There are some who walk until their legs fail them and they fall to the ground. I find that respectable.
Then there are those who drag themselves further. I find that admirable.

Play some more games against different players. Find some sources that'll give you sure-fire ways to beat Tau. Train, then challenge this guy again. When you table him, don't say anything. Let it be your own little victory.

This kind of behavior isn't right. Wargaming is, really, all about the community. You get misfits like this every so often who try to use the wargaming hobby as excuses to make themselves feel superior to others. Unless your in a tournament - and I mean national level or 'Ard boyz stuff, not the dinky 'Win a $20 gift card' event - then people really should realize it's just a game.

Some time I'm going to make my next CSM list more for killing Tau..and then I'm going to send his Tau army to the realm of chaos!

But I'm not really the tournament type, I rather play a game with someone and have a good time.

I don't think there is any reason to play if you're not having fun.

It can be fun to bring two competitive lists to the table and have a more "serious" battle, but without some of the more casual games I'd definitely not play as often. Exploring a codex and coming up with creative new lists can lead to some of the best games in my experience. They might not all be tournament winners, but you'll have fun against the right opponent and you'll keep the game fresh.

Okay, this guy is a jerk... and like others have said, I'd avoid him and if he is the norm at your LGS, then find a new place to play.

That being said, few things annoy me more than the defeatist "I play for fun, so let's call this game" type. If I'm up by a couple hundreds points in kills (or even more)... I can't stand it when the excuses and "I want to call it" begins. When I take my lumps, I play it out to the bitter end (and have even turned a few games around here and there) and expect an opponent to have enough class to at least play to the end of turn 5 unless its only going to be an exercise in dice rolling.

I'm very free with my praise and try to be a positive force in the FLGS... but I expect class while losing and while winning (and I like the "story" of the battle to play out).

Doesn't everyone want to win in wargaming?
I mean, you play a game because you would like to win. The degrees of how much you want to win may vary...
You can nerdrage around the field when you lose, but everyone enjoyes winning more then losing, right?
Still... I rather have a good game and lose it then a bad game of annihilation.

For me, it's about having fun games and enjoying the hobby.

Winning is good, but I'd much rather have a laugh and banter with my mates. When you win all the time it's not any fun.

Guy is a jerk, and he wouldn't be saying that to anyone at our club. At least not twice!

I enjoy playing for fun. I won't deny winning is good, I was over the moon when I beat Chaos Space Marines for the first time with my Orks last week. Okay, I lost two other games that night, but it was all fun.

For me it's Playing, modeling, painting.

My armies are usually 60% competetive. That is they are competetive enough so I can at least last to Turn 4 or 5. That other 40% will be models that I think look good or that I just want to play, usually to the detriment of any competetiveness.

Generally I try and play to a draw.

Apologies for talking positively about games I enjoy.

Against this guy, you should make a super competetie list, and make up rules, that nullify his rules "because it's chaos".

Or bring a falsified rulebook (hours of fun)

Well yes, when they're actually playing a game that is. This guy is definitely not someone who anyone would want to play against if he's going to be a dick when he wins.

True, it's a shame that quite a number of people are dicks. Best bet: Not play them at all.

After a couple of years of playing I got to the point where I could recognize the WAACs and @sshats. I haven't played against very many cheaters, just a bunch of people who didn't fully grasp the entire "hobby" and instead look at the game as a bloodsport.

The funny thing is that most of those types of players were younger and lost a lot anyway.

Now I am to the point where I simply don't play against someone when I know I won't enjoy the game or the person's company. Just about every game I play nowadays is arranged. I try to avoid pick-up games. I even went as far as building two full sized tables in my basement and invite friends over to play.

The bottom line is this: if I don't enjoy your company I won't enjoy a game against you. And the type of person that places so much emphasis on winning a game with plastic toys is the type of person I won't enjoy hanging out with.

Well that guy is an ass. He is a blight on the hobby.

For me its about having fun. However going 0-7 with my tau is not that fun. I would like to win once and a while. Hopefully I will figure out how to win soon.

I say play for fun but sadly, I know 3 too many players who play to win and are the biggest poor sports when they lose. Though I do get a kick out of their ranting about how I got lucky with my dice and that Necrons should never be able to beat Chaos Daemons Undivided, Ultramarines, Dark Eldar, or Dark Angels. I agree the guy is a jerk, and nobody where i play acts liek that thank goodness.

i will say i don't see anythign wrong with conceding when it is obviously a loss. usually at my flgs we'll only play it out to the last man/turn if it is close. if the loser wants to fold it is cool and you just mov eon to the next game. I'd say it'd be odd to see a surrender there when somebody doesn't have a 40-50% point advantage on the board then somebody can take thier lumps and we can roll it out but if he or she wants to move to the next game then I'm cool with that good game, handshake and any advice i have fo rthe player comment pointers or list advice goes out then on to the next game. to me it is all abotu fun and getting to play the game with other people

Lack of sex and friends, nobody takes a game that seriously unless it the only thing in there life. Just feel sad for the loser and move on.

I'm all about ending games that are, in fact, over. I just hate it when I knock out someone's favorite unit turn 1 or 2, and they throw up their hands and start the excuses/whining and start telling me about how they're rather paint anyway and wanted the game over soon to begin with
