Subject: What happens when the carrier of the WAAAGH Banner dies?
|

Lets say I have a Nob biker unit with all the nobs carrying different things. One is carrying the WAAAGH banner, which provides the +1 WS for all models in the unit. What happens when he dies? Does the unit keep or lose their +1 WS?
When the painboy dies, the unit loses FNP. This makes sense (nobody to use the 'urty syringe).
When the Nob with the Bosspole dies, the unit cannot reroll morale tests. This makes sense (nobody to beat up those thinking of falling back).
I read somewhere that the WAAAGH Banner changes the stat line for the model, so it remains changed for the entire game regardless if the banner is present or not. It's the same with Cybork bodies. Adding a painboy to the unit allows you to upgrade your boyz to have cybork bodies, giving them a 5+ inv save (changing their stat line). When the painboy dies, they keep their 5+ inv save.
The issues I have is that I cannot find a definite answer in the rules or FAQ.

If you can see Chuck Norris, he can see you. If you can't see Chuck Norris you may be only seconds away from death. |

Codex: Orks wrote:A mob including a Waaagh! Banner has +1WA
If the model bearing the Waaagh! Banner has been removed, the mob does not include a Waaagh! Banner.
There is nothing in the entry to suggest that the bonus is a permanent change to their statline.

If the model bearing the banner dies, you mark its position with a token of some sort. All orks within 24" of that token get +2 Strength, Initiative, and Attacks for the remainder of the game, but are subject to Rage (USR) as well.

As far as i know if the nob with the Waaagh banner dies than you'll lose the bonus it grants! Theres nothing in the dex that says its a permanent buff so the squad will lose the +1 WS once its gone

LOL just sacrificing 5 units of nobs would be the ultimate tactic. Then you have s10 I10 A10

No, no, no! If the model bearing the banner dies you get to automatically destroy any one enemy unit- this is called the "Foot of Gork." Then, as the "Hand of Mork", you get to slap your opponent across the face.

When the banner dies any models in the unit lose their bonus WS. That's it.

I'm more apt to believe the moderators here that what they said happens than someone who just actually stated what happens in reality.
