Just found where I've been putting all my unused sprues, and I dunno what to do with them. Throw them out or perhaps use them in a custom build.

Anyone got ne ideas for them?

TQ.

I'm a packrat, so I keep them, but if you want to get rid of them, clip every bit off the sprues, and either make terrain (fences, spikes, broken girders, etc) or just throw em out.

Terrain can easily be made by using sprues!

Brick walls, doorway frames, wooden huts for examples. Just cut them down, glue them together and see what hatches.

I bought a meat grinder on ebay for about $10. It makes great looking rubble out of sprue. It's also oddly satisfying in an evil sort of way.

Make a negative or a mould of something small out of Green Stuff, like a skull or a rivet (Not a copyrighted one though because that's illegal) Then heat up the sprue with a lighter and force it into the mould. If you are able to apply lots of pressure evenly then you end up with perfect little skulls or rivets made from plastic, which sets in seconds (as opposed to hours for GS) so you can pump out loads in quite a short time.

I find it only works for very small stuff, trying to mould anything that is significantly wider than a sprue will usually fail because you can't apply enough pressure evenly.

I think my other favourite use for sprue is to fashion blades out of them. Even if you suck at modelling it's very easy to file a sprue into a very nice sword shape for a power weapon conversion.

Ive just spent a good hour cutting up a load of sprues into nice straight sections hehe. Thankyou for the ideas, I was having thoughts on what to do with them because the most i've used them for in the past is structural support to put GS around, or making crystals protruding out the ground.

Definately going to keep them for when I start making more advanced bases or dioramas beyond simply putting a guy on a base with flock

But i really need to get on with the painting I have at hand THEN move onto more advanced stuff hehehe. Already got a diorama I REALLY want to do but I'm thinking of practicing a few before I mess my ideal idea up.

TQ

Love those necrons!!!!

A simple way of adding texture to your 'wood' is by running a saw down it perpendicular.
