I was London today for something work related and as I wandered back to Waterloo in a somewhat zig zag fashion looking for a decent bookshop, I happened across Dark Sphere completely by chance. I popped inside to peruse all things Warhammer and see what deals they did (I have adopted the position of refusing to give GW money first hand, but may do so via a third party for the right price ).

I was quite impressed by the amount of stock they had... probably more than the average GW store and that's before you include all the stuff from other wargaming systems such as Hordes etc. It has the look of a small warehouse, but to be honest that made it easy to find stuff. Strangely (at least from my perspective) none of the stock was labelled with a price, but I was told that they just look up the cost on their system. I'm not sure if this might deter the casual browser, but I was intrigued enough by the "Up to 20% off !" sign to ask how much a box of Tomb Guard was. £20.50 as it turned out, so I bought a box pronto!

Had a good chat with the guys behind the till too about the current GW climate and they said they saw it as an opportunity to get people interested in other games (making me feel slightly traitorous for picking up Warhammer stuff). Anyway, think I'll definitely pay them a visit next time I'm in London. They might just keep Warhammer affordable for me

Somewhere in south-central England.

If you want a good bookshop in central London you can't beat Waterstones on Piccadilly. It's the largest bookshop in Europe.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Dark Sphere is a GREAT store. It's packed from floor to ceiling with loads of different game systems and stocks a bunch of stuff that UK gamers can only get online. The staff are friendly and helpful as well, and won't try and force a sale on you. It's well worth a look for anyone who lives in/near London.

Ooh, might have to check it out, though regrettably Piccadily was not on the way back from the Department for Transport.

@ Shady Pigeon - Yep, couldn't believe how much stuff they fit into such a small space. They even had Codexes in foreign languages.
