Hello, this is the first draft of my first 2250-list. Basically, I browsed the web one day and found the Forgeworld Empire Land Ship and the Griffon from the Island of Blood kit and knew I had to get them. So the above is my attempt to build a list around those. And I really like me some spearmen, wouldn't ya know?

Anyhoo, this is my first list and my Warhammer knowelage doesn't go further than a couple of trial games in 7th edition, so any feedback and tactical tips would be appreciated. I know this might not be tournament material, exactly, but I'm aiming more for "amusing bouts" than "steamroller victories".

Monsters are high risk, medium reward.
If you want to keep it around, get your lord a lance. Dragon helm + normal shield is better than enchanted shield (same armor save, but you get the flaming ward).

A BSB with a 4+ armor save isn't going to last long. He will most likely be dead before you can use that banner. You may be better off with defensive gear and no magic standard.

Other than that, it looks decent enough. I'd try and find points for a 2nd general on foot. You don't want your Ld9 flying away and leaving you with an Ld7 army. You don't want your flying monster to hang out near the static army either, you need him to aggressively go after smaller enemy units.

Yeah, I'm seeing the Griffon as a sort of mix between a fluff piece and pointfiller - I got the model for next to nothing on eBay, so it's a good way to get me up in the points without killing me, moneywise (The Land Ship is going to do that all on it's own. ). Also, if my experience with 40k has taught me anything it's that if you don't start out with the wierd and pretty units I'll never ever get around to buy them.

Lance, though? I thought the Sword of Power gave the same stat boost but wasn't dependent on charging? Am I missing something?

Aw, that's too bad. The Griffon standard seems too be so good, but it seems to only be possible to put on the BSB. I mean, +6 rank bonus! That seems pretty good, I thought that would be the obvious choice.

Yeah, I've been thinking the same thing, but I thought you needed a 3000 point army to get a second Lord? If not, maybe a bare-bones Arch Lector would be good, to get me some Prayer of Sigmar on the side of my Ld9?

Ah, I missed he had a sword of power. Honestly, I'd go lance. 40 points is a lot for a guy who won't last long in an extended melee.
The stubborn crown (35 points) would be better; then he can stick around quite awhile.
