Well, the title says it all, doesn't it?
What would you say if... I were to use the LotR-line Army of the Dead (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat460011a&prodId=prod1880009&rootCatGameStyle=) as my Skeleton Warriors?
Only a few minor changes would be required really, getting spears for them, switch bases and paint them in a way that makes them look less ethereal.
Do you think this would work? Any tip for how I should do or something I should keep in mind while doing this?
And most importantly of all: Do you think it would look good?

scale for lotr minis is a bit smaller maybe try mantics undead?

+1 to above post. Mantic skellies are awesome. If I were gonna go VC, I'd use a combo of mantic and reaper for the army.

Mantic is the best choice assuming if the store you play at isnt an official GW one.

While i like the sculpt of GW LOTR Army of the dead, the scale is just soooooooooo way off.

Army of the dead is too small, and 50% more expensive than mantic.

I've got a mantic Vampire Counts army on my modeling table right now and they are simply awesome.

I don't mind some of Mantics stuff, but most of the Undead just doesn't sit right with me. Their new not-Blood Knights and mounted Vampire lord look terrible as well.

That's why I recommended some Reaper substitutes: the Mantic wraiths aren't that good (IMO) but the reaper ones are awesome: far better than anything any other company has ever put out. Again, that's my opinion-not fact

My Wraiths are definitely coming from Reaper. A pack of 9 for $40us? Awesome. They also have some really good stand ins for Tomb Banshees.

Mantic's ARE cheaper, but Reaper's are better quality-they actually look menacing (and like Death). I've used a lot of Reaper minis as warhammer characters over the years. I like them quite a bit

The pics are actually what convinced me to try Mantic, their details can easily rival GW's skellies , so i was sold!

One thing though that i must nitpick about since its unfortunate. The shields and the arms are 1 piece.

We cant swap shield with ( GW's for example ) on the spot :x

I've been looking at Reapers stuff, and I find the issue is consistency. There's some fantastic stuff, and there's some absolutely awful stuff. Personally, my vampires are coming from Avatars of War, Mad Puppet Miniatures and Dark Sword miniatures.

Absolutely: some good, some bad. That extends to all ranges though. Reaper just happens to be split around 50/50. GW has a much higher ratio of good to bad models, but we still occasionally get the Dreadknight or Pumbagor (or the entire infantry IG line ). But most of their stuff is good-personally I'd say 80/20 split of good/bad. Mantic is probably about a 60/40 I'd say right now-if GW hadn't been going strong for so long and improved on their old bugs, I'd probably give mantic like a 90/10. Of course, if GW wasn't out to bludgeon their own customers, we likely wouldn't even have Mantic...as Alessio would probably still be working for GW instead of creating Mantic rules.

For reaper , i go with the sculptors. Then it wont be hit or miss
