Huh? I think you are saying you are striPPing paint? If they haven't been clearcoated or painted with enamels, use 90% isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol or simple green, both work well enough.

I can attest to simple green as well, though I had the luxury of a sonic sink at the time.

dunk them in dettol... keep it pure so dont add even the slightest of water!

i have best results with 12-24 hour dips... after that just brush it off with a toothbrush

I've found a 50/50 mix of water is fine - it does make the paint a bit goopy, but it isn't really that much of a problem and it all just flicks off.

Allows you to get more from each bottle as well.

you can re-use the pure dettol more often before it stops stripping correctly... so i guess that if you have a lot to strip the pure works better, and if you need to strip a single mini you can water it down.

however, i find that when stripping in diluted dettol it wont strip black primer very wel

I've stripped some absolutely horrible gloss housepaint that is about 3-5mm thick with 50/50 that nothing else would touch. Can't say I have noticed it not being able to touch black primer, but I suppose it depends on the brand of the primer.

And in terms of coverage I mean that you can dunk bigger items (or just lots more smaller items) into it to strip if you water it down.

And that said, there's this wonderful post on how to strip miniatures, as well as a giant article on stripping minis.

Dettol is easily the best I have ever come across, not sure if you have that in Oz though?

For what it's worth, Pinesol (US) is very similar to Dettol (UK).

In the UK you can get some stripper called Nitromors. Knowing the UK's slack rules on chemical warfare agents it's probably banned in every other country. If you can get hold of it it will get off any paint you care to mention in minutes. Simple rinse under warm water and job done. Never found anything it won't shift. Used it on hundred year old lead based paint that was soaked into floor boards and it came off straight away. Never use it on plastic or resin unless you don't mind melting the mini and for gods sake never get it near your flesh. It will take it down to the bone and make you scream like a banshee! Good luck.
