So the other day I typed up a response to a question in a thread where some other users (myself not amongst them) were falling into a flame war. Between previewing and submitting, a mod temp locked the thread as a time-out for the flamers, and the system gobbos gave me the 'thread locked' message.

Thing is, the response I'd typed up got lost in the ether along the way. I tried going back a few pages, which ordinarily would bring up the form with the text I'd typed, but instead it brought up the 'thread locked' message.

Now, this isn't likely to be a common problem, but it was mightily annoying to have a lengthy post eaten and have to re-type it the next day. It would be much appreciated if next time I type a reply and a mod happens to make a temp lock on the thread before I hit 'submit', for there to be a simple way to retrieve the text I'd entered or else have the post put in a 'suspended posts' queue that get posted at such time as the thread gets unlocked.

A simple method is simply copying the post and transferring it to a word document etc. and pasting it when the thread becomes unlocked.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

"You need not fear us, unless you are a dark heart, a vile one who preys on the innocent; I promise, you can’t hide forever in the empty darkness, for we will hunt you down like the animals you are, and pull you into the very bowels of hell." Iron - Within Temptation

Only an option if you can retrieve the text (can't) or do the ctrl-c before trying to post (unlikely to do this every time).

Temp locking is very very rare compared to just locking outright. Getting in the habit of hitting CTRL-A CTRL-C before posting is very useful on all websites with text input, especially if you are typing something long or important.
