Hi, I m a wargamer but i m new to 40k and just recently bought a tau army. This is the army list i ve come up with. I don t like the kroot models and i m going to wait till the new broadsides are released with the codex to get any. Any advice welcome. Cheers

Shas'el Plasma, Missile, Fusion, HW Multi, Gun drone

2 Shas'ui- Plasma, Missile, Multi
-Lead, Bond, Shield and Gun drone

3 Shas'ui-
2 Twin Missile, Flam,
1 Missile, Twin Flam

3x 6 Fire Warriors
2x 4 Pathfinders
2x Devilfish, Multi, Fletch, DisrPod

Piranha, Fusion, Tar Arr

3x Hammerhead Rail, SMS, Tar Lock, Multi, DisrPod

Shas'el goes with the two Fireknife. He has a fusion cause i m a bit scared of land raiders and i didn t want to bump his bs. + it looks cool

ok few things
1 dont cut of words. abbreviate or spell the whole thing
2 Take DP on the piranha
3 Fusion blaster on the Shasel is pointless. You take a mobile fireknife squad that can dish out deadly power and hide. That gun temps you to charge towards the enemy. Let me give you a quick tau lesson. YOU HAVE THE STRONGEST GUN IN THE ENTIRE GAME. That's why tau have so few melta options. Trust the railgun. additional melta can be provided via piranha.
4 Allot of new tau players lately load up on heavy support choices. For larger games these are essential. However in games bellow 1850 3 hammerheads is a little much. I suggest 2 broadsides and a hammerhead for that level.

Shield Drones are superior in every way to Gun Ds. They take on the Toughness and Armor Save of their host. GDs have a really crappy gun, T3, okay Armor Save, no Inuvln Save and are cheaper. Take the SD every time.

I'd have all three TLMP/flamer. You want the safety of distance. Flamers are last resort use for Deathrains (the suit config).

The MT is kinda wasted on a stripped down d'fish. If you had, SMS and Target Array, then it'd be worth it to have it Move Combat Speed and shoot 7 dice. Otherwise, just have a DisPod.

The points you just saved on the d'fish? Put a DisPod and the Flechettes on this. The Flechettes will get used as most players will have to assault the piranha if they don't bring it down with heavier guns.

If you need points, trimming the SMS to BCs is good, but not a major thing. You balance distance with 2 extra dice. I like both.

Naw. Dump his GD, and use terrain to Jump-Shoot-Jump him to hiding safety, not attached to anybody. As for the land raiders, the Railheads, with Pathfinder help will take care of them.

Of course, your PFs might get killed first, and then the LRs *might* have Cover Saves and there goes your game!

I know they are pretty weak these days, but its only for 6 months or so. And i ve seen quite a few lists.

Shield Drones are superior in every way to Gun Ds. They take on the Toughness and Armor Save of their host. GDs have a really crappy gun, T3, okay Armor Save, no Inuvln Save and are cheaper. Take the SD every time.

I wouldn t say they are totally useless. They get a free Toughness bump, and the armour is mute cause he s there to stop instant death. If i had the points i d upgrade him but he still a shield of sorts.

Ok cool, I ve dropped the multitrackers and upgraded the piranha with DP, Flet and one of the drones to shield. The Fusion might be a little frivalous but he can use it when his plasma is rapid firing marines/terminators too, as long as the hammerheads keep up their end of the bargain. I ll try the list out and see how it goes, cheers for the help.
