Does anyone have an idea on how to convert some Praetorian Rough Riders? To be specific, I would like them to look like 19th century British Lancers (Hussars have way too complicated uniforms!)

Here's a reference:

There was a guy Col Gravis who made resin 'praetorians' that went on sale in 2008. I don't know if these were limited runs or what. You can check out in progress stuff here:

Here is Col Gravis' Blog, where he has pics of his army, as well as pics of all the original Praetorian GW minis, as well as links to alternatives.

Hope that helps!

I'm using scibor bears, I realigned the heads to face forwards. you can get pith helmets from trooper px and the rest of the parts on bartertown - he is the chap that gravis tapped to do the casting. you can get full head and helmet from secret weapon minis using the same pith helmet.

for the bases I used the gale force nine 40 by 75 rounded bases (about the size, maybe 5 mil difference but they only do the one large one).

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

If you accept "Zulu" as the inspiration, why not style your Rough Riders on Boer Irregular Cavalry (basically Afrikaaner Farmers)?

My guys are based on the now defunct phoenix club moas. I wanted a sort of riding the local beasts in a camel cavalry style. Bodies are Col. Gravis sculps, heads are Empress.

They're not quite finished but they're part of an online build project so I'm going to go back and tweak when it's all finished.

I was pointed at this thread by someone else, just to highlight since my old sculpts were mentioned, I've a new Roughrider version WIP, which will hopefully see the light by the end of the summer all going well! I'm planning on having it cast up in metal and handling distribution and sales myself this time round.
