I was wondering if airbrushing a wash onto some skeletons would be effective to speed paint or would it not work? If it does work do I need to water down the wash anymore than it is or should it run ok as is?

any thoughts are appreciated

I've used this method several times on 15mm historical vehicles, it works well but only if your looking for a heavy coat of wash. No need to thin the wash down.

I've sprayed inks before and as Cat says it tends to be quite thick looking.

I believe if you add something like Johnson Klear then it helps the ink wash to settle just in the recesses and gives a better finish. It will dry glossy but your final varnish should sort that out.

The problem is that because it is applied in such a thin layer compared to brushing it on, it dries a lot faster than you would want meaning it doesn't actually have time to run and gives you an overal stain, rather than shading as a painted wash would give.

I agree with Silver, airbrushing a wash can be done. In certain circumstances it works well, but it is definatly not for everything.

I have airbrushed a GK dreadknight recently, no need to thin down but make sure you have a decent amount of wash in your airbrush chamber as it goes rather quickly!!!!

Thanks for all the replys. Since it has been done before I think I will give it a shot on some dummy models and see how it works.
