Ok so i am facing a my friends tau force (1500 points) and i need some help with my list.He normally uses tones of fire warriors (around 60), 2 hammerheads and some battle-suits. here is my army list:

8 Ork bikers with pk and bosspole- 240

8 Ork bikers with pk and bosspole-240

8 Ork bikers with pk and bosspole-240

30 ork boys with pk-220

30 ork boys with pk-220

1160 points

the plan is to turbo boost to the front line and then assault with the bikers hoping to use there cover save to keep them alive. This means that they will be occupied with the bikes which will give the other boys a chance to catch up.

As you can see i still have some points to fill in so could you advise me on that as well. Thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

where's your HQ?

I would suggest taking out the Hammerheads as fast as possible, they're our main way of dealing with hordes so once they're gone you could over-run the fire warriors pretty easily.

Wazdakka, KFF mek, 10 shootas and 3 big shootas. 1500 points

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

Yeah, Wazzdakka and a KFF mek would probably be the best choice, I'd just add buggies for the rest of the points.
You should also turn those mobs of 30 into two trukk boy mobz each, if you have the trukks to do that. Your entire army hitting at once is always better than two punches.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Try something like this.

Wazzdakka

Kff mek

8 bikers w/ pk bp nob

8 bikers w/ pk bp nob

8 bikers w/ pk bp nob

12 boyz w/ pk bp nob & rokkit in trukk w/ rokkit & reinforced ram

12 boyz w/ pk bp nob & rokkit in trukk w/ rokkit & reinforced ram

11 boyz w/ pk bp nob & rokkit in trukk w/ rokkit & reinforced ram

Leaves 15 points left over. You can use that to put rpj on the trukks or something.

I play Orks, but not a list like this.

Nonetheless, I reckon you should consolidate the 3 Biker squads into 2 squads of 12 for leadership reasons.

I'm not convinced your list needs a KFF. Warbikers have an auto-cover save and can screen the rest of your boyz to give them cover as well, at least for the first turn. They probably won't give cover to Trukks though. I'd stick with mobs of boyz and just run them behind the bikes. But I have a bias against Trukks.

One or two Buzz-saw Deffkoptas could give you a first turn coup against one or both of the Hammerheads. And it fits with your speed theme.

I play tau and know for a fact that firewarrior shooting is deadly. you need those boys in a transport or they will be shredded at range.

I slaughter Tau every time I play them, and I basically just run a trukk spam list.

If he fields broadsides, deffkoptas are a godsend, you can tie them up in CC from turn one. With a buzzsaw, they also do ok against hammerheads.

Trust me, use tonnes of trukks and KFFs. Tau just can't deal with it.

Tau may rip apart your boyz on the way, but I have charged 3 slugga boyz and their nob into 12 firewarriors. They killed 8 and swept them, suffering no casualties. It was on an objective too, so I went to ground with a 3+ cover save and won that objective.

When orks fight tau, it's not like other armies, where they just shoot you up enough to render you useless. Tau have to kill every ork or die.

Trukks and KFFs are not something a decent tau player will fear. Every tau player who runs a good list have at least 1 unit of deathrains (TL missile pods) and most also have one unit of fireknifes (missile pods and plasma rifles). Cover save are there for the pathfinders to remove, and then it is only armour 10 VS perhaps 6 or even 9 Missile Pods Str 7 with 2 shots eachs. Even the regular Fire warrior can blow up a trukk, str 5 vs AV10 open topped. I play regulary VS orks, and trukk spam is not something I worry about, it can only work if you go first, get a DOW deployment or have some huge LOS blocking terrain. Huge units with Boyz and bikers/koptas on the other hand, that is something I have nightmares about as a Tau.

Good point. Our local Tau players run some fireknives, I havn't seen any deathrain battlesuits yet though (my mate does magnetise all his battlesuits, so it's a matter of time). It can't help him that I use my deffkoptas (I run 3 single koptas) to tie up all his suits, rather than target his hammerheads/devilfish. If he deep strikes them it's generally too late. To the OP, I don't like the idea of huge units of boys if he's running 2 hammerheads though. Submunition tears them to shreads.

Well, everything has already been said. Put the boyz in groups of 12 and on Trukks. The bikes will be really useful, more with the Wazzaka or something like that biker character guy. A big Mek with KFF will do you real good.
