I am a bit of confused.
Take, IG Colossus for example. It has a minimum firing range of 24 and maximum of 240" and cannot fire directly. What does it mean?

Take a look in the rule book on "Ordnance Barrage" weapons.

In short;

Normally Ordnance Barrage" weapons have the option of firing directly, requiring LOS and ignoring the minimum range, but Colossus is specifically prevented from using this option.

Firing directly means you ignore the minimum range and factor in BS while rolling for scatter.

Firing indirectly means you must be between the two ranges and it scatters the full 2D6 when an arrow is rolled.

It is the difference between firing over an obstacle or firing straight at the enemy.

CGM - not true

WHen firing indirectly, i.e. as Barage, if you are IN LOS you still subtract BS.

It's also ths difference for how you determine cover saves....

Dammit, I forgot about that, Nos. I always have my basilisk parked behind obscene amounts of cover, so it never actually has LOS until 0-hour. If it can see what it is shooting at, something has gone wrong. For my army atleast.

I know this sounds like a noob question, but can anyone tell me exactly what page the "ignores minimum range" part is on? Every time it comes up(the rest of my group thinks it still applies) and I look I can't find it in the 5th ed book. I'd really like to show them that I'm not crazy and that it's not a holdover misremembrance from 4th and 3rd..

It means that you can shoot anywhere under the maximum range.

So, with my basilisk I could drop a shell 1 inch away or 240 if I have an unobstructed view. Not that I would want to drop it closer than 12, my scatters normally do things just to spite me...

Re-read my post. I asked about the PAGE NUMBER it's on, not what it means.

It is in the Vehicles Shooting Section, which is on page 58. Look under Ordnance Barrage weapons.
