I was wondering if anyone has tried to do any "in action" conversions for the Stormraven, this includes modified flaps to give it the illusion of banking and etc?

It would just be so awkward having to alter the flying stand to let it sit at an angle. The extra LoS given by the raised wings could also be a hindrance.

What I have seen is them modelled with the landing ramp down and troops leaping out - quite a lot of work but looks cool.

I was thinking of modeling one on a scenic base of marines jumping out the back hatch as it hovers there in place like a harrier jet except having angry blood angles jumping out.
But then I started warriors of chaos soo that will have to wait.

Hmmm I understand the LOS problem but that is if you actually use it for a game. In a GW or FLGS sanctioned tournament I can see it being a problem but in standard friendly games will it really be?
I consider the marines jumping out of a Stormraven the same as if it is done for a Rhino, Raider, Chimera, Devilfish, and the Wave Serpents. It is nice, easy, but over used.
I do plan on haveing a Stormraven like that though but with a Sanguinary Guard holding on to a handle with the Stormraven tilted further forward. The Stormraven will have melta and lascannon wounds and glances on the wings and main body, as well as some sharpenal near the nose and right side of the body as if a few fellow Stormravesn blew up nearby, and bolter holes near the nose and underbelly to show minor damage done by the Traitors.

its kind of and ugly modle though. its true you do learn to like it but I think the best conversion idea I have seen for it was to have the wings and tail removed and track put on it, kind of like a mini landraider

The pics made it look ugly but I saw 1 in the flesh so to say and I loved it and bought 1.
It would look cool converted into an ork mega deff kopta.
But a landing one would be cool to see.

You should really consider the Chapterhouse Storm-raven kit. The base model looks kind of funny, imho, with the tail sticking out. But this conversion kit really does a good job of making it look more like a mini thunderhawk.

Ah, so it hasn't been released yet, this is why I didn't see it while searching. I'm debating if its worth the price though :-/

I've tried cutting some of the more traditional aircraft control surfaces out to adjust them into more of a landing position similar to present day aircraft flaps...nothing fancy but changed the silhouette of the model quite a bit without having to worry about LOS etc in a game. Nothing that several passes with a craft knife and a little help from a razor saw couldn't handle

So it was simple than. Do you have pictures?
I was speaking of Chapterhouse Automatically Appended Next Post: I am thinking of adjusting the mini turbines on the tips of the wings and near the nice. The way they were designed seems to make them look like they cab rotate up and down.
