Has anyone ever made a starship troopers themed imperial guard army, it seems like a good fit.

You're thinking of the IG.

Well, you could easily just paint the uniforms light grey and the armor plates dark grey/blue-grey and you'd have the look of the MIs from the movie. Just take a lot of regular infantry and use rocket launchers for your heavy weapons. Pretty standard foot horde.

IG can do it. Take infantry, veterans and sentinels. Fits the book properly. You can even take Valkyries as well if I remember the book/movie properly.

If you remembered the book proper they'd be in Terminator armor

You mean Space Marines? Because from what little I read of the book, the armor suits they had was basically like Termi armor with jump packs.

Just roll a deathwing army and your done.

Guard vs Nids has been done since the first movie came out. From the point of view of the book, though, Blood Angels would be the better fit is Mobile Infantry are jump infantry in power armour.

Honestly if you are going by the BOOK version...TAU would probably be the best fit.

Lots of crazy battle suits that hop around the battlefield. Shooting lots of cool guns.

If you want the MOVIE version, then you would go for IG. Cadian models would be an exact fit really.

BFG: 1500 pts. Mostly built, half painted Pics: 1
Blood Bowl: Complete! Pics: 1

Well the old cadian models would fit the bill quite well for the movie guys, although I personally think that baseing some IG guys on starship troopers would be a terrible idea, they can already trace their roots back to starship troopers anyway, it would be like having some Space Marines based on Star Craft Terrans.

Well now that I think of it, if the tau codex had the gunvesa, then it would be a perfect fit.

Please better explain this poorly worded comparison before the nerdrage sets in.

Because starcrap is NOT the basis for Space Marines.

It seemed to be worded perfectly fine as long as he ment that 'a space marine chapter design based on Star Craft was bad', if he ment that 'a space marine chapter design based on Star Craft was bad, because they are based off of Star Craft' then he is on his own and will be getting a whole load of burning dog poo thrown at him by the nerds.

Basically a brief history lesson

Starship Troopers books written ---> GW makes game with armies that are similar (a little too similar) ---> GW in talks with Blizzard to make video game ---> talks go to the crapper but Blizzard releases Warcraft series instead of Warhammer and later Starcraft instead of 40k ---> starship troopers movies are made and look more like WH40k than the books they were written from

Basically copyright snafus back and forth since quite some time ago

Yeah, actually is the chain of events that occurred. Twisty, but accurate.

What I want to see is a Starship Troopers (the movie) themed Tyranid army. There's even those miniatures from that one short-lived game...

GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

I have thought about painting my IG as SST but got tied up in my own fluff and can't escape that quagmire. But it should work(for the movie versions) if you give it a try.

For the Starcraft SM, I painted one a purple-blue and fitted a lego gold face shield with some green stuff. It looks pretty good actually. Tried making multiples but it is far too much work to make an army out of, so he is one of my captains.

I meant to say that it would be a bad idea to have a space marine chapter based on Star Craft, since they are already so similar. Sorry if I made it sound like space marines were based on terran marines, that was not my intent, please excuse my terrible wording and get on with your lives.
