Because he has a character riding with them, this is one of the few times when a knight champ is actually a good idea. However yes, points are so tight I'd say he should get the axe.
My thoughts:
+ Consider this for your general: Exalted w/
MoK, sword of swift slaying (
ASF), charmed shield, juggernaut. Not more attaks, but far far better attaks with that reroll
+ Decide between flails or t.axes on the horsemen, drop the other one and then buy a musician
+ Warriors don't need their champ, with no character to protect from challenges
+ Drop the knight champ at this points level, and think about dropping the standard as well (but do not drop the musician!)
+ Buy those marauders a musician, and as many bodies as you have extra points for (should be +10
gw marauders).
MoK would be lovely but you'll have to drop a dog unit to pay for it (your call, 1 unit of chaff is likely fine at 1000 points, unless you play lots of fanatics or something)
