I was thinking Blood Guard. What do you all think? is it good? got something better?

Okay heres some backround
theyre big into machines.
they like to make good use of Artillery before moving in with fast attack vehicles. think Blitzkrieg
they are successors of the Blood Angels
And work with Imperial guard on a regular basis
Love close quarters combat

thats all i really have right now.

also, no one has said but how do you like the color scheme? and hows the paint job?

Crimson Angels? Something with crimson would be cool imo...but if you do want it to be 100% original, I would google search it to make sure it isn't already a chapter.

yeah my only backround was that their founding chapter is the Blood Angels.

well when i was looking up chapter names there was no Blood Guard. i like Crimson Angels though.

Maybe Scarlet guard or scarlet angles maybe.

Angels of Mars
Angels of Rust
Ferrus Angels (As in Ferrus metals not Ferrus Manus)
Wardens of Mars
Wardens of Rust
Sentinels of Mars

There's some Mechanicus inspired ones.

If they have any specific tactics or background then come up with a single word to sum them up and look it up in latin, usually works if you're completely stuck.

Do they have close ties to the Mechanicus?
Who are they Successors of?

But...just off the top of my head, 'The Sanguine Vigilance'.

Hey, don't let the pun in Red Zeppelins detract you from using it. Let me remind you that the chapter name Ultramarines is a pun (marines colored in ultramarine? Let's name them Ultramarines!). Red Zeppelin covers both chapter colors and the mechanicus side of things (if you're going for the semi-mechanicus flavored chapter).

I really like Angels of Mars and i think Angels of Rust would make a really good chaos chapter.

Some helpful advice?

Artillery and Blood Angels just don't 'mesh' well, thematically.

Have you considered, perhaps, having them be an offshoot of the Imperial Fists or the Iron Hands? Heck, you could even go for the Ultramarines(generic, one of the most commonly used gene-seeds out there and not prone to flaws such as the Blood Angels' Black Rage).
The Fists are supposed to be fairly 'human' but at the same time, that doctrine of warfare you gave seems to match their modus operandi quite well.

I should have added (and just did) that they like hand to hand fighting. bomb the hell out of the enemy, than close in as fast as possible and tear them apart limb from limb.

thats why i wanted them to be blood angels successors. and i was thinking about the Iron Hands at what point, ill look into them and the Imperial Fists fluff some more.

You have a chapter of Marines charged with defending Mars...deceived by the Mechanicum during the Horus Heresy, the Munio Ares repelled the Imperial Fist thinking they were the Sons of Horus...or something like that.

That's pretty what the Imperial Fists are, heavy into siege and defensive warfare, whist having a cult based around the art of the sword, which is touched greatly upon if you read Sons of Dorn(great book btw). As well as being more humane and knowledgeable of the plight of the lesser man, they would make a better template for your Chapter then Blood Angels.

Booming Blades
Swords of Mars

Heralds of Mars

I'm sure they came up with Ultramar after they decided to call them Ultramarines. They'll call it Aquamar if the chapter was called Aquamarines or Vermill if it was named Vermillions. Maybe Pewpew if it was Pewter, I don't know.
